Chili's Grill - High Point

The wait for our drinks and appetizers was unusually long for a fast-casual restaurant, especially considering the place was only half full. We were more disappointed with the service than anything else.

I took my son out for his birthday, and he had requested that the staff sing to him. When I mentioned this to the greeter, she assured me that it would happen. However, after waiting 25 minutes, no one came to sing. A waitress stopped by to check on us, and when I mentioned the wait, she said she wasn't aware of any plan for a birthday song. She then handed me the check.

Don't overlook the food at Chili's! I hadn't been there in a while, except for grabbing their amazing molten chocolate lava cakes, which are truly delicious—no joke! I tried the Cajun pasta and chicken tenders, and both dishes were very tasty. The new mac and cheese was surprisingly good as well. However, there's some room for improvement in service; the servers often stand at the back chatting instead of providing refills. That said, they are very friendly!

I recommend this Chili's for its atmosphere and excellent food. I know that waitress service attentiveness is subjective difficult to rate. Many times at most restaurants, the diners end up looking in vane for the server to come back and check on the diners. In this case, it was just the opposite problem. This lovely exuberant server interrupted our conversation 7 to 8 times while we were dining. The manager also came by once as well. These abrupt intrusive interruptions of our conversations, actually became annoying after about the 4th time. I'm sure management puts pressure on the servers to do this, but excessive checks can be just as annoying as not coming around at all. Perhaps a better tactic would to watch attentively from a distance if approaching the customers, it would be more respectful to silently make the presence known by approaching the table closely, waiting for a pause in the conversation before asking if everything is OK.
