4 friends and I stayed at Millies B&B in November and loved the experience. The booking process was very straight forward. On arrival we were personally shown to our rooms, which were of a good standard, clean and tidy.We wanted to stay at Millies for the local walks. The staff were very knowledgeable about local walks and very friendly in offering us advice and recommendations. The highlight of the trip has to be the food. The all halal full English breakfast was just what was needed after a hearty 6 mile hike. The chocolates made on site were a fabulous treat for the journey home and for family. It was a pleasure to spend time with Millies staff and the owner Rukiya was a true delight. She welcomed us in to her B&B almost as family.I highly recommend the Peak District’s best kept secret ....particularly the halal full English!
We went here for a breakfast having enjoyed them here in the past. After being seated, we were surprised to find that the menu no longer contained any trace of pork. We were hungry so decided we we would try the alternatives offered, maple cured beef strips instead of bacon, beef and onion sausage, and a veggie alternative to black pudding. Unfortunately, the sausage was cremated, the beef strips sat in a thick layer of grease, and veggie pudding was tasteless. Added to this, cremated mushrooms sat in a thick layer of oil (maybe so we wouldn’t notice how dry they were! , nuked tomatoes were also oily and the hash browns were pale and insipid. Thank heavens for the baked beans and eggs! We like to support local businesses but sorry, we both agreed that this has to be the worst breakfast either of us had ever had. So disappointing.
From the moment we walked through the door we were warmly greeted by such friendly members of staff (who also have a great sense of humour.
My partner and I called in at Millies for coffee and cake on a rather wet miserable day. However the welcome inside was so warm and friendly and cheered us up no end. Our drinks were piping hot, just as we like them and the cakes, presumably home made, were really delicious. Our time was limited, but having found this little gem we would love to return for a proper meal. We were even given complimentary chocolates.
