Was David Goodland at Highrail Brewing a mag?
I was glad to have finally found your microbrewery and completed the Hunterdon County Beer Trail for this year. Brian served me up a crowler to go of your Flow Trails New England IPA . With the added Citra, I was expecting a more lemony India pale ale. However, I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a subtler and milder citrus flavor which was gently reminiscent of German import Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Witbier from my... View all feedback.

After a ride on the Columbia Trail, this was the ideal place to unwind and enjoy a beer. They are a small-batch brewery that offers incredible brews.

This would be brewery #219 for me. Highrail Brewing Co, or HBC, is located in a cool little old downtown area on a seriously narrow street. I parked my rental car and as I walked in the door I saw a sign that said, Did you remember to tuck in your mirror? Well I hadn 't and decided if they felt the need to remind people I would take their not so subtle hint. After folding my mirror in I scoped the place out. They have a good amount of seating on a patio just outside the front doors, which makes me wonder if this was a response to the Covidians or if they have always had it. Anyway, inside is plenty of seating much of it at longish high tops. I hit the bar and ordered a flight of four. I was going to grab a table since there isn 't that much bar seating but I was immediately welcomed into the fold by the staff at the bar and a gent drinking there. I ended up hanging out chatting with them while I tried my beers. Yes I was chatting, so you know what that means right? Yep, no detailed tasting notes because I was talking while I drink. Seriously, I can barely do one thing at a time let alone multiple things. I had the Powers Out pale ale, the Derby 22 ESB, the Flow Trails NEIPA, and the Black Steel stout. All of them were quite good. The two that stood out for me were the NEIPA and the stout. I even went with a pint of the stout to follow up. No reds or browns on tap for SWPFTD though! Oh well she does like a pint o bitter though so she might have gone with that offering, which was quite good. I highly recommend HBC. Not only were the beers great, but the ambiance and the staff were great as well. Breweries are about beer but people make or break the experience. They made it here. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

Upon entering the brewery, I immediately loved the atmosphere. The space features large windows on two sides, and the Edison lights created a cozy, warm ambiance. We were warmly greeted by the gentleman at the bar, who seemed genuinely thrilled to hear about our journey to get there. Between the four of us, we ordered two flights of beer along with a few pints, which allowed us to sample a good selection of what was on tap. I enjoyed everything from Highrail Brewing, but Trails absolutely won me over with its first sip—I fell in love! It's a refreshing NEIPA and so delicious that I ended up having more pints than I had originally intended. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Highrail Brewing and I’d happily return. I don’t know when we’ll be back in New Jersey, but if we are, visiting Highrail will be a top priority. I’ll also be sure to share my experience with others. Cheers!
