Contribute FeedbackChoopan Grill in Hicksville offers unbeatable Afghan cuisine with delicious food and amazing service. Customers rave about the authentic dishes and reasonable prices, from kebabs to soups to desserts. The fragrant rice, juicy tikka, and creamy firnee are all highly recommended. While some reviewers mention inconsistent kebabs, overall the food quality has improved over time. The restaurant can get busy, so making a reservation is advised. Despite a few cleanliness issues, Choopan Grill is a hidden gem worth visiting for a memorable dining experience.
This is the third time I had a problem with this place. I gave them another chance. You change prices. In the question they say that prices are changed recently. Unlike the phone, different from the menu and different online. You do not explain the price change or the menu if you order via the phone. You make prices and then you make it crazy when you ask them. They do absolutely nothing to take care of their customers. No excuse. Never go back to Kabul Kababab House in Westbury or Kebab House in Hicksville!
Don?t walk just runs to eat. The best Afghan food ever. I think the price is very adorable than other Afghan restaurants. The food portion is very large full. Very busy place so if you can make a reservation before you go. Taking one star out because of the cleanliness, the tables are so sticky otherwise food are people they are amazing.
This restaurant has the best Afghan food, especially if the owner (Najib jaan) is there--the food will be extra delicious. He is also very nice and hospitable. We have been coming here since the restaurant first opened, and they don't disappoint. The rice has such a fragrant aroma that will open up your appetite. Their eggplant is never bitter, and tastes just right--even to someone who isn't a fan of eggplant. The aush is delicious. They put a homemade yogurt in it, but for some reason, it tasted cheesy to me. I really enjoyed their aush even though I typically don't like homemade yogurt as it's usually sour. The chicken tikka is super juicy and delicious. It isn't spicy but you can add chutney if you'd like. The lamb tikka is flavorful without being chewy. Their firnee has slivered almonds inside and is topped with ground pistachios and cardamom. It is thick and creamy, without feeling too heavy. They used to make sheer yakh (in house ice cream topped with rice vermicelli and ground pistachio), but they stopped during the pandemic. Now that's something we will definitely miss! Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Where to begin?!? I?ve been coming here for years and never once have been disappointed. Every single thing from here is amazing. I usually go with the combination platter and a few apps. Their monti and samosas are phenomenal and the soups are really good too. More than anything their white sauce is one of a kind
The restaurant seems to be good, with a lot of space. The food was just ok, there are definitely better places out there with the same price tag but much higher food quality. The quantity of food was also not the best. They sell it as a BBQ item, which was literally a full bowl of rice with few BBq chunks. Staff were a little edgy, as we ordered a take away near the closing time. Personally it was a disappointing experience.
