We went to the smaller version of Fonda La Mexican on 16 de Septiembre Street, Its a small place with simple deco (it was full of what appeared to be locals) the chicken mole was fantastic!!!!!The portions were perfect and at a great price. I was visiting my folks, who are Mexican, and they were very impressed, so much so that we went to the bigger restaurant on Poniente to purchase the mole paste (to take home) A mu... What User doesn't like about La Mexicana:
La Mexicana on the outskirts of the historical center had a nice leafy courtyard dining area. They had a good selection of breakfast food with omelets and chilaquiles. Despite being made to order the food was lukewarm and the service was painfully slow even for...Mexican standards despite the place being pretty much empty. View all feedback.
La mexicana at the edge of the historic center had a beautiful green courtyard esbereich. they had a good selection of breakfast eating with omeletts and chilaquiles. despite the production to order the food was lukewarm and the service was painfully slow even for. Mexican standards, although the place is quite empty.
We went to a more famous restaurant when we saw that this pretty older house became a fonda. we stopped and were pleasantly surprised! the house is well maintained and gives an idea of how to do the fountain...life in another arrachera. everything we ordered was great, especially the tortilla soup and the arrachera. even when we came to Sunday dinner, it was not too crowded and we could relax and chat. faster and attentive service. about 300 pesos per person.
Puebla food is renowned as the best of mexican high cuisine. La Mexicana gives you an excellent sampling at very reasonable prices in a pleasant environment. Also it is in easy walking distance from the main square. Three of us tried three dishes: Chiles en...Nogada excellent; Pipian verde excellent; Pipian rojo very good. It is not that easy to find really good traditional food outside private homes in Puebla; some places have interesting fusion but cannot leac=ve a good thing be teh way it is, some are just to cheap. La Mexicana is right on the spot for first class traditional Puebla food.
