Booked an evening meal whilst staying in log cabin near by. Large portions of home cooked food, quick service and friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably priced, in fact we were surprised and were expecting to pay more for the quality. The decor is lovely as well, quite cozy on an autumn evening. Will definitely return next time we are in the area View all feedback.
What Herefordnomads doesn't like about The Royal Oak:
Nice pub, friendly welcome but this is very expensive pub grub that isn’t value for money. Whilst the food is tasty, it’s not cheap for what you get. It’s neither a gastro pub nor a local there are better pubs in the vicinity who do the same quality food for 1/3 less. A real pity. We’ll not be back in a hurry and this is our nearest...... After taking a walk on Bromyard Downs, we decided to visit this restaurant. Unfortunately, the decor seemed outdated and in need of a renovation. The food was just average and priced higher than expected. Overall, there are better dining options available.
A great pub to finish a walk around the downs with. A wide varied menu, which amongst the 9 of our party had a wide selection of and all were delicious and generous portions. Alex behind the bar was very welcoming, friendly and hospitable. This is our 2nd visit during each of the last two Feb half terms and won’t hesitate to return
Went for the Mothering Sunday lunch in March. Wasn't wowed by the place although we had parked near the walkway to the entrance with the passenger door closest to the walkway, unfortunately when we came out some one had parked in the space at the bottom of the walkway which made it extremely difficult getting our mother in the car. Realise that this is not the fault of the restuarant, however it would be nice if the parking close to the walkway could be designated for handicapped parking (with or without the blue badge) and the area at the end of the walk way kept clear. Additionally the floors are very uneven with small steps and these can cause trip hazards to the infirm.
We visited The Royal Oak for the first time on a Thursday evening and I was shocked at how quiet it was. Delicious food, excellent service and a pool table! Cheesy garlic bread to start was delicious, I would even say it's the best I've ever had! Followed by ribs, chips and onions rings a good sized portion, I just needed a bigger plate! The gentlemen who served us was very friendly through out! The pool table could do with a refurbishment however it was great to be able to use it. Will be returning and telling friends about our fabulous experience!
