The Nags Head

The Nags had been closed for a few months due to the owner's retirement in the autumn. Many thanks to the retired owner and his staff for providing excellent food and a warm welcome up until that time. We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and found it to be quiet at first, but soon several people came in to eat. The food was delicious, with a good variety of options on the menu. I enjoyed a steak pie while my wife had a burger, both of which were very tasty. The selection of drinks seemed to remain the same from the previous owner. We are pleased to see that The Nags has reopened, and based on our experience, it seems like it will continue to be a great choice for dining out.

Just the loveliest people. My mum remarked that she liked the colour of the walls, and wanted to paint her living room that colour, and the pub owner gave her the pot of paint!! Food was delicious, huge array of vegan options. The roast in particular was plentiful and gorgeous, including a vegan cauliflower cheese (ask ahead of time to ensure you get it , nut roast, and all the vegetable trimmings. Very tasty vegan chocolate fudge cake (one of around four vegan dessert options with custard, whipped cream or ice cream if you want : My mum said it was the most attentive and considerate customer service she’d ever had — and that was BEFORE the paint gift. Can’t wait to go back. Tip generously to this lovely gang and do order the vegan options :

Stopped for an impromptu lunch. Food (typical British pub food) was excellent along with a very warm welcome, even for our two doggies. We will definitely be back and become regulars. What a gem!!!

I went to Nags for a few drinks tonight and ended up staying for a few more. The service was excellent with a friendly barmaid who made the atmosphere very welcoming.

Be several times for evening meals always great quality lovely food. Just been for Sunday lunch yet again great quality friendly service. Highly recommend you try the wonky donkey.
