An old school friend visits me. We want to make a hike around the town of Blankenberg. The town of Blankenberg is today a quarter of Hennef, high above the victory the medieval city with castle ruins, ancient city walls and towers, and here and there vines on the medieval city wall. In the immediate vicinity of the historic marketplace is the Haus Sonnenschein, a hotel with restaurant in a typical Rhine-Westphalian two-storey structure with a roof tab and a prefabricated outdoor terrace. House Sunshine (in the evening there is also the rustic mountain style – beam ceiling, dark brown, almost black support beams, dark brown wood furniture, white tinted walls and beige brown tile floor. The tables are white covered, a white candle in a silver-colored stand, a spice-mage stand next to the available best and napkins on the covered table. When we arrive after our hike, we have free choice. We choose a table on the window side with a view of the marketplace. My friend and I feel displaced in trembling times, very cozy, rustic and secret. This ambience has earned four stars. An older man is in the door when we drive to the entrance of the restaurant. It's obviously the boss. At home I had already discovered an acidic roast from the deer on the web menu, then I was concentrated on it. In the hung menu in front of the restaurant, however, the sour roasts are missing. So, when I attend, I ask the obvious boss if I get a tasty sour roast out of the deer today, because in the net, which practically announced, he misses the suspended menu. Do I have to be satisfied with a virtual sauna? I'm asking. He sees what can be done, the suspicious boss answers. In the meantime, we sit at our chosen table and the suspicious boss is pleased to announce that this will be good with the sour roast from the deer. A friendly older gentleman has now appeared with the menus on our table. He serves us in the evening, is very friendly and attentive. His contribution to the guest is hardly surpassed. This is especially true if my friend wants to have exchanged the supplements to his daily dish he has chosen. Our service owner naturally notes that the daily dish is served with hazelnut and red cabbage instead of reminding me – potatoes and hosting. My Sauerbraten from the Hirsch is also listed by our service owner with semmelknödeln and red cabbage. Basically we have put together our favorite dishes and house sunshine has realized them. It remains to be noted that our Lord has asked the service whether everything is correct, whether it tastes. He served us very professionally. Five stars are justified for the service of the restaurant. The menu is German with Mediterranean effect. Our friendly service Senior brings us first two hikers after the submission of the menus, • a Benediktinian yeast wheat (0.5l to 3.50 € for my friend and • a Grevensteiner natural trout of Veltins (0.3 l to 2.60 € for me. The first strong sip of well-cooled beer, wonderful! My friend chooses the daily menu, a soup, pork bag with the modified supplements Spätzle and red cabbage and a dessert for 13.50 €. I choose as an appetizer an additional salad (4 € and as a main dish • Sauerbraten vom Hirsch mit Sauerbratensauce, Rotkohl und Semmelknödeln (16.90 €). My friend stays with the Benedictine yeast wheat. I choose a red wine to the acidic roast, the Eichstetter Vulkanfelsen, Spätburgunder, dry (0.25 l for 5,50 €. Our service Senior serves the Spätburgunder, a really dry and delicious ruby red with pleasant acidity. Very good for Sauerbraten! Later we get the greeting from the kitchen. Greetings from the kitchen It is fresh white bread with grapes. The salt-dried lard on the fresh bread tastes particularly good after a 20 km long hike. Later, our friendly serviceman serves the soup for my friend and my side salad. The soup says, my former school friend, don't tear him off the chair. It's missing the wort. I didn't keep my friend's daily dish in pictures. In any case, it is very satisfied with its daily menu. The pig dogs are very delicate, the red cabbage and the hare-suckle tasted good. The dessert is again for its fullest satisfaction. My side salad consists of leaf salads, cucumber slices, tomato apples, pastry beans, corn and a cream yogurt dressing. Whether it comes from the bottle or is made by itself, I did not notice. The salad is fresh and crisp. He tastes very good to me. Our appetizers are consumed. Our service owner clears the appetizers and brings us the main dishes. My friend gets the delicate pig bags with the hazelnut doll. I get my sour roast from the stag with the semmelknödeln. Sauerbraten vom Hirsch mit Sauerbratensauce und Semmelknödel The acidic frying of the deer is very delicate and plentiful. There are five discs, the web menu after the deer lobe. The fryer falls on the tongue. However, there are also places with tendons that could be cut out during the preparation course. The few places with tendons reduce a little my judgment about the acidic roasts. The two presumably self-made Semmelknödel on my plate are classical and prepared as expected. Finally, they sat so strong that a rest remains on the plate. The red cabbage destined for my friend and me is served in a separate metal bowl. Red cabbage The red cabbage is obviously prepared with apples that put the visible apple pieces in red cabbage and probably self-made, whereupon the irregular cut of red cabbage closes. It tastes excellent, slightly sour and seasoned accordingly. It is a taste as we know it from our youth in the mountainous country – home feeling! We're both very happy with our main dishes. While my former school friend enjoys his daily impression, I speak at the Eichstetter Vulkanfelsen. We are both very happy with our food and drinks. It is clear that the conclusion is good: four stars for food and beverages. There is nothing to complain about at the price/performance ratio. We have been served excellently, have put together our own dishes and the kitchen has fulfilled our wishes. When preparing the dishes, there are only minors – like the tendons in the sour roast – to complain. Against this background, four and a half stars are suitable for the price/performance ratio at the respective prices. I also evaluate cleanliness. In the guest room, on the table and in the courts I have not found any defects. I was on the men's room and everything was fine. Four stars for cleanliness. As a result, I recommend the house sunshine. Here we have received our wishes, the kitchen has a good performance, the service has shown itself very polite, the price-performance ratio is more than fine. At the end, I forgive four and a half stars.

An einem lauschigen Maiabend entschieden wir uns in der Stadt Blankenberg ein Gefühl von Urlaub zu tanken. Unsere Wahl fiel auf das idyllisch gelegene Haus Sonnenschein. Nette Bedienung, ansprechende Karte. Wir entschieden uns für "Grüner Spargel Mediterran". Vorab einen leckeren Apérol Spritz. Bis dahin war alles prima.Dann kam das Essen: zerkochter, faseriger grüner Spargel, der trostlos auf ungewürzten, faden farbigen Nudeln lag. Keinerlei Sauce oder Butter/Öl, geschweige denn irgendeine Würzung. In der Karte stand: mit Parmesan überbacken, was wohl noch Geschmack gebracht hätte. Der Parmesan befand sich aber leider lediglich auf EINER Scheibe Tomate, die ebenfalls komplett ungewürzt war. €14,50 für dieses Gericht war wirklich eine Frechheit. Auch meine Rückmeldung wurde recht desinteressiert hingenommen.Mein Partner hatte übrigens dasselbe Gericht und mit Humor haben wir diesen kulinarischen Fehlschlag weggelacht. Leider werden wir dieses Lokal von jetzt an höchstens für ein Kaltgetränk aufsuchen.
