Amore Taste Of Chicago Henderson Italian Pi

I decided to try a thin crust pepperoni pizza for the first time and honestly, I could have saved some money by just getting a Tombstone pizza from the grocery store for a lot less. The taste was quite similar. It was edible, but that’s about all I can say for it. The overall flavor was pretty bland and unexciting, and there was surprisingly little pepperoni on the pizza. When a $21 pizza tastes like a frozen one from the local store, it’s clear something isn’t right with the pizza here.

Needless to say, we were grossed out and ended up not eating any of the food. We were concerned about the possibility of food spoilage or other hygiene issues, and it left us feeling uneasy. A B rating is already unacceptable, but a C? They really should close until they can sort out their health violations because I’m sure many customers, including us, won’t be returning. It's disappointing too, as we've dined there many times in the past. Definitely not impressed—there’s even a photo of the freezer-burned pizza puff I received.

We decided to order the deep dish pizza and calamari for appetizers. However, we waited an astonishing 45 minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, the pizza dough was still raw. Our waitress was understanding and tried her best to rectify the situation by ordering us a new pizza, but this time, we opted for the thin crust, which arrived in 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to your restaurant. The food lacked flavor, and the overall service was quite lacking.

As a 12 year Chicago transplant, when the local hidden gem Chicago style pizza spot, Amoré, opened its 2nd location in Henderson, I was very excited! They had some great pizza that actually tasted like home, and I enjoyed eating there frequently over the last couple of years. I just visited this week (Nov 2023), and unfortunately, it seems they have changed the sauce recipe, and it just isn't as good/taste like home anymore. Instead of a hearty, zesty tomato flavor, they overly spiced it up, went heavy on the oregano, and it just didn't hit the same. I'm super disappointed, as I truly loved this place, but I'm discouraged to come back and have the pizza again. They do have some decent appetizers; the sampler is good for a group, and the sandwiches have decent flavor, though a bit light on the meat. I would maybe still visit for one of the lunch options or to catch a game on one of the many tv's hung around the perimeter of the restaurant.Now the closest Chicago style pizza options we have here are the chain restaurants...Rosati's, Aurelio's, and Giordano's. Sigh.

My wife (Chicago native) loves to visit Amore when we're in Vegas, to get her deep dish taste of home. Our latest visit had a hiccup when they brought me the wrong pizza but, after a long wait (30 minutes for the deep dish is normal, the extra 20 for my white pizza, watching everyone else eat, was tough), but they definitely made it right by comping the cost of mine. Now if they could just switch from Pepsi to Coke..... Bottom line, we'll be back. The food is great!
