Lane's - Hemphill
Lane's
Description
Lanes is a small‑town eatery praised for standout pizzas, hearty Mexican and solid breakfast/lunch fare at good value, with generally friendly service. Diners applaud crisp, chewy crusts and generous toppings, though experiences vary: some report average takeout, occasional menu shortages and inconsistent service. A serious restroom cleanliness lapse undermined confidence in hygiene. Overall, a convenient local spot with excellent dishes when operations run smoothly, but uneven upkeep and accountability suggest management improvements are needed.

**Takeout Meal Review** **Meal Type:** Lunch **Price Range:** $10–20 **Food Rating:** 3/5 **Service Rating:** 3/5 **Atmosphere Rating:** 3/5 The lunch I ordered for takeout was decent, but it didn't quite stand out. The food was satisfactory, falling right in the middle of my expectations. The service was also average; there was nothing particularly memorable about it. As for the atmosphere, even though I didn't dine in, the overall vibe of the place seemed to be just average. It’s a convenient option for a quick meal, but there are certainly better choices out there.
I went to Lanes, yesterday. I have to say that of all the times I have frequented this establishment, I was never so disappointed. I ordered mozzarella sticks, which I always order when I eat there. They were served to me at room temperature, bordering on cold. In addition, onion rings were ordered. Later, I was told there were none available. I dealt with that and said nothing. However, the problem for me wasn't really the food temperature or an order that was not available. It ended with a bathroom break before I left there. Upon using the restroom, I sat in some elses urine, a dimly lit bathroom, no paper towels with which to dry my hands or clean the back of my leg... Upon leaving, I mentioned this to three of the women there who were operating the restaurant. Interrupting their gabfest, they offered no apology. They said they couldn't keep on top of it. In other restaurants, bathrooms are checked every thirty minutes. They offered no accountability, saying they can't always check the bathroom. I told them that the restaurant was empty when I arrived and it was still empty when I left. No customers with which to keep them from checking on their restroom. If this is how the bathroom was, I wonder how their kitchen is kept. The very kitchen that cooks the food that customers are paying for and being served by this establishment. In such a small town, one would expect, when a restaurant is not booming with customers, that they would find a moment to stay on top of cleanliness. I support local businesses and do not mind spending my money in places that need to thrive in their community. I feel that I will not chose to go there, again, now that the Hitching Post is open for business. I feel there are better options for me to chose from when it comes to where I will go when I want to eat out. Posting a review is not something that I take lightly, nor do I take lightly the fact that I feel I have to write this review for everyone to read. I hope they take time to clean what needs cleaning and tend to what needs their attention, rather than stand in front of and behind their counter having a gabfest. Taking accountability for my experience would have been a start to proper management of a place that serves food and would like to keep their customers coming back!!! A clean bathroom and a clean kitchen are a must when there is food being prepared, paid for, and served to patrons!!!
