After we got our food, we decided to read a historical plaque located near the entrance of the pits. My wife then asked if we could take a quick look at the pits, and the older gentleman there, along with a few others, unexpectedly replied, "Well, if you want to take a peek, go ahead." He did not offer to explain anything or check if we had any questions, which made the atmosphere feel quite chilly. As we walked through the pits (only to find no hogs cooking) and went around back to see the fire starter barrel, we eventually returned to the pit tent to thank him. He then made a rather unkind comment, and we decided it was time to leave. Unfortunately, our visit to the pits was not at all the warm experience that the reviews suggested. Perhaps we just encountered the "B-Team." While the food was good, we likely won't be returning anytime soon. Been there, done that. Best regards, Dr. K. King.

The atmosphere matched the description from the article, which didn’t bother me. The staff was friendly, but that’s where the positive aspects ended. We ordered the three-meat plate with two sides—coleslaw and baked beans. Unfortunately, the ribs barely had any meat on them, and while the pulled pork was moist, it lacked flavor. It had a hint of red pepper but no sweet, smoky finish that lingers on the palate, as the article suggested. The chicken was the most disappointing; it was dry and bland. The baked beans tasted like they came straight from a can—if not, they certainly didn’t exceed that quality. The slaw was average; nothing special at all. This was our first experience with a restaurant on the list, and I’m now quite skeptical about the writer’s recommendations. I can't recommend Scott's Bar-B-Q, and we won't be returning.

What an amazing place! The barbecue here is fantastic, even without Rodney! For a more in-depth review, check out John Tanner's BBQ blog and look up Scott's.

This is a fantastic barbecue spot rich in history and character. I would never have stumbled upon it if I hadn't been actively searching for it. It truly is a hidden gem and did not disappoint. If you're a barbecue enthusiast, you absolutely need to make the journey!
