Delicious huge salmon soup! Be aware of the bigger size. I have never eaten such a huge portion of soup, at least 1,5l lot of salmon in it. The small portion would be definitelly sufficient View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Merimakasiini:
The place is beautiful and the service is excellent. The food was satisfactory, but not really extraordinary. Wine selection is good, but usually in Finland it is not cheap. View all feedback.
Got super sick (both directions) after eating the Shrimp appetizer and then the grilled shrimp. Believe it was the grilled shrimp. Was told the shrimp were frozen before cooked. Perhaps left out too long at some point. Will never go back
Merimakasiini is a very traditional place in a nice location. During the summer you can sit on their terrace and watch the boats entering and leaving Länsisatama. The quality of the food was also good. Prices are quite high though and not all the stuff was that friendly unfortunately.
Just okay. Good for getting away from busy downtown but not a culinary paradise. I'm not at all happy with mussels served shells off. I always think they are canned. The wine was decent and the waiter treated us like he was not our friend but willing to do his job anyway. It seemed like it was more of a local hangout but not because it had unique food. Merimakassiini was small and mostly quiet when were were there and not at all catering to tourists.
Eating was generally very good. lobster soup was slightly underwhelming, but the muscheln were great! great service, beautiful location. highly recommended.
Excellent seafood restaurant. Tasty dishes and great wines!
