What mattiT150 doesn't like about Kuurna:
Delicious food, terrible service. Small bistro type restaurant serving set menus, 2 or 3 sets. Nice atmosphere but waitress was so rude. We enter 20 minutes too early, there was empty seats but they next seating starts at 8pm...so young waitress told us go out and have a cocktail somewhere...she say go left or right there you found place !!!! So we left and walk around the block in -8 C...then return and that same ta... View all feedback.
Quite a nice dinner in a nice place. Everything was good, but not outstanding though. A good choice for a nice informal dinner.
Kuurna welcomed us in friendly way for a dinner. I took three course menu with Ricotta for a starter, ricotta was tasty and good. For a main course I had pepper steak and it was tender and tasty, def one of the best pepper steaks I have ever eaten. Ice cream for the dessert was ok as well. Good wine matched well with the steak. Overall really good food!
We booked to come to eat here for dinner, during our only night in Helsinki. We didn't really know what to expect and just booked on a whim. We struggled to locate and fine the entrance as there seems to be various locked doors, but we got there eventually! Seating is cosy and intimate. We opted for the 3 set course menu with the Wine pairing to go with it. We loved the food, all very different to what we would of normally ordered but we enjoyed the different tastes and dishes. Wine pairing was well executed and paired very well. Service was friendly and frequent without being too much. I wouldn't say the meal was cheap and definitely more mid-range, I think for our meal and 3 small glasses of wine came to approx. 100 Euro each, so not a cheap meal but well worth it as a one off.
Excellent restaurant overall. Wide selection of wines, friendly service and nice menu. Great escape from the restaurant chains.
Ate here on our first night in Finland and had a great meal. We weren’t super hungry so we got 1 appetizer, 2 mains and 1 dessert. They nicely did bill as a three course and and extra vs. two 2 courses which would have been more expensive. The egg with mushroom starter was delicious and the stock to die for. Meals we had a pepper steak with vegetables which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The second was a duck breast. Sauce and veggies were very good honestly the sauces on every plate were amazing, but the duck breast was rendered enough and there was no crispy skin served. Dessert was an olive oil cake with a citrus sorbet that was also a delicious and light bite. Wines by the glass menu was small but recommendations were spot on to go with the mains. Be aware bathroom is up several steps and a big awkward. Otherwise ambience is perfect. Feels a bit like a wine cellar with all of the exposed brick. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting Helsinki.
