Balance Rock Eatery Pub - Helper

Great food, great service. Classic small town comfort food. We were in town for work and decided on this place. We had such a good time it’s almost worth just driving all the way out to Helper just to eat here again and drive all the way back!

Cute little stop off the highway. The wedge and the Ansazi melt were perfection. The fries were a bit soggy but definitely home made. Definitely stop into this place for a quick bite to eat on your travels! They also have local artwork for sale!

The balance rock eatery had great service. Our food came out quick and hot. They accidentally had an extra pancake and they gave it to the table free of charge. When I went to eat said pancake (which was massive and fluffy) I poured a generous helping of the 100% wisconsin maple syrup that they has supplied the table free of charge. The syrup poured and I noted how thick it was, when I went to spread it on the pancake it stayed on top and didn 't soak in. Skeptical of the authenticity of this maple syrup I took a bite. My mouth was coated in the artificial, off putting and unmistakable feeling of high fructose corn syrup. Astounded by the though that they could have refilled the bottle with a high fructose dupe of the real thing I dipped my fork in the puddle on my plate and I was even more certain after trying again. I strongly believe that the bottle given to us was refilled with high fructose corn syrup. Other people at the table agreed with me. I grew up on real maple syrup and am confident in my ability to discern the real stuff from cheap imitations. Although this caused me to not eat the pancake I do not have a negative overall opinion of the eatery. Don 't let one poor decision stop you from eating at the balance rock. They serve fantastic food and I was more than satisfied with the rest of the experience.

Great breakfast during the Art Festival! There was something for everyone on the menu and the pancakes are HUGE!!!

This is a fun, small town restaurant, good food, good menu, good people and they had beer. It’s the only eatery right on Main Street. Service was surprisingly fast, I loved my Reuben.
