We were recommended to this restaurant by our host in Heiligenblut and we were glad that we followed it. The view is amazing. The food is simple, tasty and cost-effective. The service is very friendly.
Spectacular location, located on the world-famous Grossglockner Alpenstraße. We ordered white beer, which always proves to be a good choice in this region. They serve cheese from their own production of cow's milk, which graze right next to the cottage. Your Emmenthaler is excellent and certainly worth a try, but try to convince the service to cut the cheese in thick slices! Otherwise, the cheese is cut very thin and this is not the way Emmenthalter is best served. I suppose they do that because people are too afraid to invest 2€ for a better taste... Very friendly female owners with a lot of pride on what they also reward Alm of the year in 2007, which is quite remarkable considering the competition.
We have this sensation (which is the name for a mountain farm that includes the pastures of animals during summertime, sells products and other local wars, also food) on the way to the glacier area of Franz Josef from Lienz. Went to see the Pasterze (Glacier Range) and then stopped on the way back home. There are parking spaces on the street. It's under the street level, so it's a simple mistake, even though there's a sign. A short walk down a narrow path leads to the small house. With a view to today's menu, we ordered exactly that! We sat outside, the sun was hot, umbrella opened, the view amazing. Very friendly service (local family). The mixed vegetable soup was from this world. So was the main dish, and especially desert, Kaiserschmarrn and hot served pots cake. Amazing experience together, great local cuisine. Recommended to check the weather as this could affect when closing for the winter season.
