The large, cozy café in Calder Holmes Park offers cake, coffee, and ice cream, conveniently located near the canal and just minutes away from the main street of Hebden Bridge. There are two separate queues for ordering, with a cash-only option to streamline the process. Despite being busy due to the hot weather and the bustling park, the service was quick and friendly. I get my kicks on Route 66 Favourites are Toffee Ripple Crunch ice cream in a two scoop tub with chocolate sprinkles. Have this with one of Charlie's awesome cakes. Or ask for a Nick Butty, go on, I dare you. There's free Wi Fi and some charging ports in the corner. Don't be surprised to wait when it's busy It's only a little kitchen and everything is made to order. Bring your menagerie or your ear plugs.
The park itself features a small playground suitable for children of various ages. There is also a fitness area equipped with outdoor exercise equipment for older children and adults, which is free to use. For sports enthusiasts, there’s an open grassy area perfect for playing football or just kicking a ball around. Throughout the park, you'll find numerous benches where you can sit and enjoy the view, including a lovely pond. There are also several picnic spots available, along with picnic benches located near the children’s playground. Conveniently, the park is just a short walk from the train station and is close to the center of Hebden Bridge. The canal runs alongside the park, and you can stroll along the canal path to admire the many canal boats.
They serve Northern Bloc ice cream, which is definitely noteworthy. This place is an absolute gem to visit on a Sunday afternoon. Even though it was quite busy, the service was quick, and I was happy to see that they accept card payments. Overall, a fantastic spot!
Went today, and although I really enjoyed the ice cream it was the smile of the girl who served us that made the experiance. You simply can't teach people to exude friendliness
The coffee is great and the staff are nice. Various cakes, sandwiches and snacks available. There is a book shelf with some great reading and books about photography and modern graffiti. Tables and chairs outside to chill out on or sit inside and take a look at some modern interior ideas such as metal colanders as light fittings and reclaimed wood nailed to the wall. Good music too. Located in a wonderful park area next to the canal and a stone's throw from the town.
