This is a small food stall at a food court, but it offers various tasty Indonesian foods. In the Autumn or Winter, I like to buy Soto Betawi/ Jakarta creamy soup. Do not expect to get much beef meet in this delicious savoury soup, because the price is fairly cheap. The rice portion is generous so that I can not finish eating it by myself.
My other favorite is balado ikan/fried fish with generous chilli paste. For me... View all feedback.
What Marty Okuneva doesn't like about Pondok Selera:
Pondok Selera has been around forever dishing out indonesian, indo-chinese and some token malay food (step fwd fried curry vermicelli, laksa, har mee identified as malaysian prawn noodle soup here as some examples). Portions are huge as usual, prices have crept up but still good value as attested by its stream of customers. View all feedback.
I ordered Nasi goreng khas (spicy) and suprised with the taste. It was really good and really 'indonesia '. I definitely will come back and taste another food. Love it!
Yummy Indonesian food, right in the heart of Chinatown. You can't go wrong here, but they can be a little slow at times.
Its amazing how many rice and soup bowl places are literally surrounding this place in the always so busy food court. But this ordinary takeaway has somekind of star power that keeps you coming back for a quick cheap fix. The Indonesian Chicken and Beef Rendang is not adjusted to the local taste buds and that's the way life should be. Very generous serving of rice is plonked on your plate so make sure to ask for extra scoops of that hectic sauce!
Had the rice combination with rendang and corn fritter and the soto ayam. The rendang was heated too many times (probably from yesterday or even longer) so it became too salty and the texture was off. The corn fritter was not crispy, greasy and doughy. The rice is what Indonesians would describe as "perak" meaning dry and separated. The soto ayam was better than the rice but still so far from expectation. Not cheap as well.

My other favorite is balado ikan/fried fish with generous chilli paste. For me the chilli paste is just right to my liking and if you do not find hot or spicy food is appealing, you can just buy the crispy deep fried fish without the chilli paste. The staffs are friendly ????
