the brat ente with bok choi and rice is an absolute favorit of me. it is also a signed hong kong court. However, after reading reviews about the customer service this site I am very sure that I do not receive the alleged abuse that people have copied. totally unacceptable! View all feedback.
What Justice Tillman doesn't like about Ma's Kitchen:
the man refused to serve me for no reason. I had my card in my hand, as I had just ordered, and before I even spoke to the man who served bluntly, said: "card? no" and immediately turned around and went away. I got money from my wallet and waited for him to return. I started to order a black bunny and he said, "only one? No." how he rolled his eyes and left again (before I could even order the rest of our food.) we w... View all feedback.
If you want elegant & delicately-spiced Asian food.... go somewhere else. For old-school slapped-together chinese cooking with strong flavours, consider here. It's not quite as cheap since they renovated this whole Sussex St food court & it's more brusque than cheerful, but I come here now & again because I like strongly-flavoured dishes. Salt & Pepper tofu is not just tamely sprinkled with salt like many versions - it's covered in shallots & ginger & those savory yellow beans. Fish with shallots & ginger didn't have the lightest touch with the cornflour-thickened sauce, but had a strong ginger taste at least. Remember, this is a food court. If you're heading out to a few pubs after this kind of thing might be just what you need.
Located in Sussex Centre food court. You would definitely come here for the food and not the service. Reminds of a certain episode of Seinfeld! If you asked the wrong question or didn't know what to order or asked for a variation you would get a frown and possibly not get your food at all! Luckily for me I knew this coming in so knew what I wanted. There are lots of choices of food. I ordered the Shredded Duck Mushroom With Vermicelli Noodle. It was a good sized serving of noodles and sauce with a few mushrooms and some sliced duck. There are other choices you can go for but just expect the grumpy man and you will be okay.
Bought food here and asked for a receipt, but the cashier was so reluctant. He printed a $0 receipt and I asked for the actual amount. He scribbled the amount on a piece of paper and gave it to me. Poor service.
Guys I told you I'm becoming very well acquainted with this food considering its popularity amongst colleagues on my floor. Seafood laksa: $10 Filling? Yea Full of flavour? Nah Full of oil: yah and this is coming from someone who has no qualms with consuming oil lel Maybe the fried noodles will be better. Though quite possibly, maybe not :-) Edit: waited for 10 minutes just to get a dish of seafood char kway teow. Appalling service - the guy at the counter was very unfriendly: I mean I'm not expecting much since I'm in Chinatown and all but this guy takes frowning to a whole new level. The noodles were dry and too salty. I don't understand why it's so popular... Save your ten bucks and go elsewhere in the food court lmao Edit 2: had the egg noodles in soya sauce... Average tbh. Lacked a lot of flavour. Pass
Ordered a chicken laksa. It came out in 2 mins which is never a good sign. Not sure what they did but it smelled like a whole bottle of fish sauce was poured into it...Not happy couldn't eat it...
