Diners rave about the excellent food—particularly the ribs, steak, and homemade hummus—alongside attentive and friendly service. While some patrons faced minor hiccups, such as raw dishes and a somewhat rushed service towards closing, the overall sentiment leans toward enthusiasm. Guests are encouraged to reserve a table, especially during busy evenings filled with live entertainment. This hidden gem promises an inviting retreat and culinary delights for both locals and visitors alike.
I stayed in the guest rooms of the townhouse next door and decided to have lunch there yesterday. I highly recommend making a reservation as the place filled up quickly after opening. And I can see why! I tried a few different dishes and everything was delicious - especially the homemade hummus, which was incredibly fresh! The staff was friendly and attentive, and I would definitely return to try a main dish.
Great meal, fantastic entertainment the coverups) live band, service was fast the staff could not do enough for them would highly recommend menu was very varied large Friday night out
Beautiful evening with friends here. my friends chose the place because of the filetsteaks on the rocks. I can see why they liked it. I had the ribs that were delicious. the taste became somewhat overwhelming at the end, so maybe less. for me next time. beautiful staff.
Found this place from sheer fluke when trying to find a non-chain run of the mill restaurant for lunch when on a day trip after hastings last week. friend discovered it and when we turned to him, I thought honestly, the place had closed since it really does not seem the most attractive restaurant from outside and has practically no keb attack, the road that it is easy to find. However, the restaurant was open and had a few days in the inner, so glad that we took what I thought was a chance that staff was very attentive and helpful and eating was excellent. hopes to come back to the end of the evening and relive with one of their entertainment nights.
Hidden down a side street, you probably wouldn't even know it was there unless you passed it or found it on Google maps like I did. It's a small bar/restaurant that also has accommodation. It has a quite traditional rustic interior with polished wooden floors...and big old oak tables the name didn't really seem to fit what you find inside at all actually. From the photos on the walls the building has historic originals as a pub and hotel, so they should probably embrace that as it would be a better fit. We had several drink and food and were mostly quite impressed. My wife had the Vegan tagine, which she absolutely loved, I had the Rib Eye steak, which was perfectly cooked and my son had a pizza, which wasn't on the evening menu (just the lunch menu) so it was really good of them to do that for him. The service was fast, attentive and the food came quite quickly. There were a couple of down points that knock down the rating a star. Firstly my Portobello mushroom was almost completely raw and totally inedible, must have just been flashed in a pan for seconds. Secondly, the drinks were very expensive at nearly a pint and over for a soft drink.
