This is a hidden gem well worth the drive from Huntsville. The restaurant is in an old train depot. It is nice reading about the history of the depot. The food is 100% Southern comfort food and is SO GOOD. Our waitress was precious, friendly attentive. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! View all feedback.
What DJ Pro doesn't like about Freight House:
Food was a 4. Drinks, a 1. Ordered mimosas to celebrate a special occasion, and they were so thick, tasted like juice. Then asked for a glass of Prosecco/champagne so we could mix it more ourselves, and there were barely any bubbles in the glass and way too sweet as if had been opened too long or sparkling grape juice . Phenomenal upscale culinary experience in a unique historical location. My steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, and the service was phenomenal! I took my three sons who enjoyed the historic railway station atmosphere together with the artifacts of the past. We had an unforgettable dinner they won't forget soon. Perfect atmosphere for a date night or a chic family dinner. I recommend that you check this landmark.
Our party of four held in this fantastic charming restaurant on our trip back from Florida on the way to Kentucky. We saw a sign on the highway and it said the Freight House was a top 8 restaurant in Alabama. I must say I was very happy and pleasantly surprised with the food, staff, decor, location and all the ordinary pictures and antiques throughout the restaurant. We loved the theme. Thank you for a great experience.
My wife and I drove the 30 minutes from Huntsville to check this place. It's funny, charming and unique. We had chicken tits and Hamburg steak with green beans, potatoes, roasted Okra and Mac and cheese. Everything was perfect. Great comfort food, and the fried pimple chips are to die. Our waitress, Laurie N treated us like a license. Enjoy the food and the atmosphere.

Always a favorite place to go. Food is always fantastic. If your in the mood for a fancy date with a steak dinner or a casual lunch date with chicken or seafood salad, it is always good. Don't forget their amazing desserts. Pretzel salad or Strawberry cake is always my top two choices.
