This is a classic family-run Mexican restaurant, and I was craving some good carne asada—and it truly hit the spot! It was fantastic. The only thing that could have made it better was an ice-cold Corona to enjoy with my meal. Come on, folks, get that liquor license! View all feedback.
What Jeffrey M doesn't like about La Paloma:
My friend ordered red enchiladas but received green instead. She requested no beans, but they still included them. Additionally, the waiter brought us our chips only after we had already received our food. View all feedback.
Husband ordered their burrito with carne asada, and I opted for their tacos Americano with chicken. Both came quickly and were very good! The sauces that came with it (an orangey hot sauce and a more traditional green sauce) were delicious and had just the right amount of spiciness. We were just quickly passing through so we didn't have a chance to try anything too complicated. The restaurant itself is very clean and inviting. Bathroom was spotless. I noticed they had ice cream by the cone and their more traditional Mexican ice cream bars, which I adore. I inquired about dessert, but they had none available that day. Next time, tres leches will be available, I hope!
We weren't sure what to expect when we came into La Paloma, but I had heard from an few locals that it was super authentic and delicious. You walk into a little Mexican market on the right and the restaurant is the left. The store part has numerous choices, even some handmade goodies and Mexican treats. We were seated immediately, and our server was super attentive, nice and helpful with choices for what to order. I have never had fried cactus before....it was AH-MAZING!! We learned that the refried beans and rice are made with healthy ingredients, from scratch (Abuela's recipe!! . We had a little of everything, I think...so many choices, and the prices are quite reasonable! The chicken enchiladas came with carrots on top, and the extra flavor REALLY added to the dish. The rice was light and fluffy, the beans were yummy. I have been recommending La Paloma to friends and family as a little hidden gem in small-town Hartford. There are always specials listed out front. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is quaint, seating is limited but comfy, and service is quick!!
Noticed this new restaurant so stopped in for lunch. Very friendly staff and the place was new looking and very clean. I was surprised that the menu did not offer any lunch specials just full priced dinner meals. I ordered the enchilada platter. 4 corn enchiladas with rice and beans. I have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants but have never had fried potatoes and carrots on top of the enchiladas. It did not add anything special to the meal. I was not a fan of the rice and beans. The rice was rather moist and stuck together and the beans had such a large amount of onions in them, that was a little overpowering. They had only been open a week and I hope they do well but there is the best Mexican restaurant around in Lawrence, one town away so I don't see myself returning.

The food here is amazing, and the staff is fantastic. The waiter is very laid-back and friendly. I highly recommend this place, especially the tacos!
