Was chrismranger at Elvetham a mag?
We visited the Elvetham with a group of friends for our annual Christmas party and the first time the Elvetham. We were not disappointed, as the location is impressive, with a great party atmosphere, good food, and good Christmas package all with a great value for money. What is worth registering in this hotel after Christmas. Many history associated with the hotel, so it would be an ideal weekend getaway. What robinn669 dislikes about Elvetham:
Full marks for location—such an elegant place and could imagine arriving here as a house guest in Edwardian times for a bit of fishin’ and shootin’ though I don’t like either. Really nice airy restaurant with lovely views of the well maintained gardens which you can walk around before or after. Sadly the food doesn’t match the surroundings and greatly overpriced. Also we were unnecessarily asked to remain at the tabl... View all feedback.

Had a fantastic stay-very relaxing. Staff were friendly and food was delicious. We ate in the restaurant and bar and both were positive experiences.

We held a reunion for 30 friends over two nights and three days at The Elvetham. The Events team was brilliant, particularly Gemma Paynter who made sure every detail we requested was accommodated including extended menus, special food requirements, correct room allocations and best of all always responding very quickly. Big thank you Gemma. Next I must thank the Chef, the special menus for our event were excellent, the arancini, crème brule, the salmon, the stone bass require special mention but every dish was excellent and our guests really enjoyed the food. The team that served our two dinners were exceptional, delaying the meals when we requested, and giving us plenty of time before and after dinner to mingle. The breakfast team also need mention for bringing out all those specially ordered omelettes. Thank you Freya for the history tour, it helped is understand what a special place we were visiting. And last but not least Geraldine from reception who handled all our room swaps with a smile. They all helped make this a very memorable reunion. A big Thank you!

Really nice airy restaurant with lovely views of the well maintained gardens which you can walk around before or after. Sadly the food doesn’t match the surroundings and greatly overpriced. Also we were unnecessarily asked to remain at the table as they messed about with the bill thinking we were residents and then, as we discovered later, were given the wrong bill though there was little difference in the overall price we calculated. Not very professional really and probably won’t go back though a previous visit the year before was better.

We visited for afternoon tea and were greeted warmly by both the reception and restaurant staff. We were given a box of tea bags and a pot of hot water to prepare our own tea in cups and saucers, although it was not clear where to dispose of used tea bags. The sandwich selection was good and accommodated our dietary needs, but the fillings were a bit sparse. It would have been helpful if the cling film was removed from the sandwiches and the contents were explained to us. The scones and pastries were decent but not exceptional, and we felt that there could have been more provided. We would have preferred to receive two scones per person rather than sharing one plain and one fruit scone between two people. The overall experience was okay, but we were somewhat disappointed with the food and service. The building and grounds were beautiful, and we enjoyed the views, but we did not feel that it was good value for the price compared to other similar hotels where we have had afternoon tea.

This hotel has the surprise factor. On arrival by car on a beautiful long street with impeccable lawn, to be received by a wonderful house and patio. All about it is great, from Elvetham the sculpted ceilings to the stairs. We stayed here on two occasions, and also attended a dinner also works. The staff is very cozy, and delicious food. There is also a very nice bar that has all the original features, just a place to stay.
