Had an americano to drink and the gingerbread biscuit. Good and can't complain. Fast free wifi.

They offer a nice selection of hot and cold sa... read more I recently visited Cafe Nero for the first time and I must say, it was the best coffee I have had in a long time. They offer a nice selection of hot and cold sandwiches, cakes, and more, but I highly recommend trying their coffee if you are in the area. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.

There was only one staff member working at the coffee house, preparing orders and serving drinks. Another waitress arrived, looking upset and muttering to herself as she begrudgingly took off her coat to assist the other waitress. The service felt hurried and it was clear that the staff member did not enjoy being there. Unfortunately, my coffee was not up to par, making the overall experience less than pleasant.

It was quite full but none of the tables were wiped while we waited for one that came available. While we waited no member of staff asked if we wanted to wait; if they could help us etc. It is said that the Emperor Nero played his fiddle while Rome burned. Like him, the staff seemed not too interested in what was happening around them. Maybe if the place had a facelift in terms of decor, it might be more welcoming and make the staff more willing. On previous occasions, we felt more comfortable. We have no reason to assume that the coffee itself had deteriorated but when you just visit for a quick coffee and chat with a friend, the atmosphere, decor and staff can and should make the difference. Off my visiting list curently.
