We traveled to the Ripon area to explore Simon's Seat and participate in the Park Run at Fountains Abbey. However, we were so enamored with Ripon that we decided to extend our stay and booked a room at the Blue Bell Inn. The room was comfortable with a nice bed and bathroom, but being tall individuals, we found it a bit cozy. The TV was small and the curtains could have been thicker to block out the early morning sun, but these are minor complaints. The standout of our experience was the excellent service from a young man at dinner who was both confident and friendly. The food was well-presented and delicious, though we wished for warmer plates for our hot dishes and more variety of vegetables with the main course. Despite being advertised as a bed and breakfast, we were not offered breakfast during our stay.
Having lived in the area for almost a decade, we had never visited this pub/restaurant as there are so many options to choose from. Finally, we decided to have lunch there and tried the roast dinner along with a dessert. The food was delightful, and the welcoming staff added to a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be coming back.
We drove past this charming pub with beautiful flowers outside and decided to stop in for dinner. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was bustling with customers, and the food and beer were fantastic. We enjoyed delicious starters and main courses with generous portions at a great value. Our only regret is that we live 150 miles away, as this pub is everything you could ask for in a village eatery!
We stumbled on this little gem of a place by accident, from walking in we were greeted by the lovely landlady who was very friendly. We weren’t expecting to stay over but the blue bell had a really nice homely feel. We were lucky enough to stay in the Oakley room it was amazing so clean, tea, coffee and hot chocolate also some lovely little snacks. The room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable and warm. Good quality bedding and quilt. We had evening meal all freshly home cooked food. I would highly recommend this lovely place.
We popped in on a Saturday afternoon for an early evening meal. Although the kitchen wasn’t open until 5, we were able to place our order before then and were given a seat in the restaurant after waiting with our drinks by the fire. Food was really nice, staff attentive and the overall atmosphere was pretty much everything you’d want from a Yorkshire country pub. Will definitely be re-visiting at some point and would recommend it to all.
