We were driving past Ripon very early on a Sunday morning and decided to stop for breakfast. We found this cafe on Google maps, which stated that it was open even at this early hour. We set the car's Satnav for the cafe's postcode, and fifteen minutes later we arrived, but could not locate the café. Took us a further fifteen minutes of driving slowly around the area before we found it, and we were so glad we did. The... View all feedback.

On a disappointingly damp summer’s morning I had a stroll round Ripon and popped into the Sun Parlour Cafe for a warming cup of tea and a bacon butty. The sun didn’t come out but my mood lightened considerably as I sat by the window in this bright little cafe, enjoying the view of the park as much as my tea and sandwich. Such simple pleasures! The service here is always friendly and welcoming and it is a splendid cafe.
We have been frequenting this café for over 15 years and have always enjoyed visiting with family. The team in the yellow uniforms were always friendly and the prices were very reasonable. We have enjoyed Christmas lunches here and have great memories of playing crazy mini golf. We visited today hoping to enjoy cake and a latte, but noticed that new owners have taken over. Unfortunately, the new setup is not as good as before and we were disappointed to find that the wonderful homemade baking has been replaced with uninspiring offerings. The latte was the worst I have had in many years, it was more like white coffee. The owner was unimpressed and rude when I asked for a replacement. We will not be returning.
Beautiful setting, welcoming staff. The homemade cakes were excellent, and I can't wait to come back again soon. Located in a park with stunning flower beds, it's a great spot to watch people play bowls.
We were heading to the park for a spot of mini golf but also noticed the Sun Parlour Cafe so popped in as a group of five for a lunch bite. As it turned out the cafe is where you pay for the mini golf anyway so two birds met their demise with a single stone. Friendly service, a modest selection of the usual cafe grub and all priced sensibly. Our choices were prepared/served quickly and all piping hot. Tasty too. In our group of five there were two who had burgers, one beans on toast, one sausage egg sandwich, and one all day breakfast. Nothing disappointed. A fine looking selection of cakes was on offer but none of us sampled, no doubt they were very nice too though. A recommended cafe for cheap simple eats and drinks in a quaint location. Sadly the mini golf didn't go so well for the author I can only assume I had been given a faulty putter...
