Good place to stop, have a drink and take a breather from sightseeing. Very nice/friendly staff. Had good sanitized /Covid compliant practices in place without being too over bearing. View all feedback.

Really enjoyed this pub when we stopped for a beer, so much so we went back the next day. Visiting from London this is what I would consider a good old Yorkshire pub. Lovely hospitality, lots of drink choices and felt covid secure. Nice to sit outside also and watch the world go by
I have read all the reviews and agree with many of the positive comments that have been posted. Yes, staff are friendly and welcoming. Yes, it 's a nice location and pleasant surroundings (though frankly I would get rid of the television). My reason for awarding only 3 stars is that I thought the food was ridiculously overpriced. My wife and I both had steak and ale pie. It was one of those that came in a dish with a detachable rather unpleasant puff pastry lid. The meat was tender and gravy was tasty. The chips were not great and tasted as if the cooking oil was past its best. Two portions of this, a cup of tea and a pint of bitter came to nearly £31 which I thought was a good £5 over the odds.
Close to the Main Street but overlooking a grassed area this cafe serves a nice selection of snacks and hot food at reasonable prices.
This was my second visit to the Montpellier and it was every bit as pleasant as the first. The landlady and landlord are very welcoming and friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The pub is busy and nicely set out with lots of interesting and funny plaques to read. We shared the monty platter (which was every bit as lovely as my first visit and this impressive meal served on a large tray looks like its going to become a tradition each time we visit harrogate, its yummy !! All this washed down with a lovely prosecco dont mind if I do !!! This was a brill start to a fantastic weekend !!!!
Really nice atmosphere , food well worth the money ,fresh Grt portions and the fish and chips are to die for xx
