Herriot’s - Harrogate
Herriot’s
Description
Herriot's restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring hearty breakfasts and daily carvery options, appealing to both hospital staff and visitors. While some diners rave about the fantastic food and attentive service, others have reported disappointing meals with inadequate quality, such as cold dishes and greasy offerings. The atmosphere varies, with some visits marked by friendly staff and a welcoming vibe, while others experience long wait times and unsatisfactory service. Despite these inconsistencies, many patrons appreciate the value and variety, making Herriot's a familiar spot for casual dining within the hospital. Overall, it's a place worth exploring, albeit with caution.

Had an excellent simple lunch here jacket potato with tuna at very reasonable price. Well cooked and hot.
Charged over £10 per head as visitors during an outpatient visit for inadequate frozen lasagne and chips which were being pretended as made fresh. All catering supply garbage. Aggressive/ threatening service on 5/7 occasions. Even the hospital staff now seem to completely avoid the food except sandwiches.
I have been a frequent visitor to Herriot's since 2010 when I started working at the Hospital. I am not a staff member at Herriot's, but I have always found it to be a fantastic dining option. The staff are lovely, the food is delicious, and there is always a wide variety of choices available. Whether you want a full breakfast, a simple fried egg sandwich, or some cereal, Herriot's has it all. During lunch time, you can enjoy a full dinner, soup, jacket potato, or even themed days like Pancake Day or the recent American 4th of July celebration. There is also a salad bar open during the week, and before Covid, there was a fresh Sandwich bar as well. Although the staff can be busy and rushed at times, they always manage to serve you with a smile. I appreciate that they offer the option to take your food in a box to-go, and it is not limited to Hospital staff. Overall, Herriot's is my go-to choice for dining. Thank you!
This restaurant is fantastic. The food is delicious and reasonably priced with generous portions. The staff is also very attentive, making it a valuable asset to the hospital.
It was 9:30 on Wednesday, July 12th. The restaurant, which has a capacity for over 60 people, was a large area with only 4 people. I ordered breakfast, two sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes. The sausages were full of grease with the mushrooms, the tomatoes were cold, and the sausage was burned on one side, meaning it was never touched when cooked. This has to be the worst breakfast I've ever had, and I think I may need a hospital? It made me sick all morning. Avoid at all costs, the fact that it is hardly ever open doesn't help. The service was also abysmal.
