The place was packed with locals enjoying a community pub, but we were welcomed and seated in the busy pub area. The menu had some nice choices. I went for lasagne, which arrive quickly. It impressed me this was home-made, as was my partner's fish pie. The portion was large and the whole meal very tasty. Prices are very reasonable. A real traditional northern pub, highly recommended.
The Half Moon family run pub comes highly recommended for the cheerful excellent food, at the Carvery on Sunday March 12th we needed assistance as our friend passed out (twice) nothing was to much trouble, their concern was genuine and we were so well looked after. John Chris most importantly Linda who is now fully recovered would like to say a very big thank you to Colin Tracy members of staff especially Jean a retired nurse who stayed with Linda until the ambulance arrived
Just stayed here for the first time, Monday to Friday. The accommodation was excellent. Made very welcome by Colin, Tracey, and Billie the dog. Breakfast and evening meals were large portions, delicious, and good value for money. Locals made us feel very welcome. We will definitely go back in the future. A big thank you, to Colin, Tracey, Billie, Adrian the Chef
We were passing through Fellbeck in our motorhome, on our way to Grassington. Our good old sat nav took us on an old roman road to avoid a road closure.... it wasn't a road, it was a track, and as it was raining, it was muddy and wet. Our motorhome succumbed to the mud and we got stuck in a ditch. After getting no joy from our breakdown cover, no joy from a towing service, and being on hold to the police control room for over 30 minutes, I decided to phone the local pub. Colin (the landlord) was brilliant, he managed to find someone with a tractor and someone with a chain, and he came to us with Joe (the tractor man) and Adrian (the pub chef). With great care and attention (and in the dark might I add), they managed to tow us out of the ditch, and we went on our way. As it was now so late, we decided to head to the pub. Colin said we could sleep in our motorhome outside. We went and had a few drinks with Colin, Tracy and Adrian. Sadly Joe couldn't join us, as he was in his tractor and it was too far for him to go. We also decided to book a B&B room for the night. It was so cosy and warm, very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. These people saved us and we cannot thank them enough. We have already booked to return for New Year celebrations, when we hope to get to sample the main meals as well. They say that the AA are the fourth emergency service, but no, the Fellbeck community are the fourth emergency service, especially The Half Moon Inn!
Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, fantastic carvery, cannot recommend highly enough. Thanks to all for keeping the quintessential English country pub alive and kicking.
