What MirfieldMan doesn't like about Gilchrists Family Bakers And Tearoom:
Take away 2 medium (normal I’d say) sandwiches 1 Cornish pasty. Ham salad 2 slices, chicken 4 small pieces. HOW MUCH? £14.05. Always like to support local, never again. Rip off the visitors but not the new local resident! Shame on you. Such a shame but we will stick to the little tea pot. View all feedback.
I called in early morning after visiting Studley Royal. I ordered a full English breakfast which was disappointing. It was missing hash browns, black pudding, and fried bread. The portion size was small and the sausage looked cheap. I won't be returning. However, the cakes did look delicious!
This small bakery and coffee shop is a nice spot to grab a drink. There are a couple of seats available out front, and a lovely tea garden in the back, although it's a bit of a walk through an alley to get there. The garden is nice, but the entrance is a bit uninviting. Unfortunately, the staff was a bit rude during my visit. A senior employee rudely pushed past me to get to the till while I was being served, without acknowledging me. However, the young lady who served me was friendly and apologetic about the situation. It was clear she was uncomfortable with her colleague's behavior.
We wandered into town and stumbled upon this hidden gem. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us navigate their menu as we were unsure of what to choose... everything looked delicious. I opted for the chicken, stuffing, and gravy roll while my husband went for the hot sausage and bacon roll. Both were absolutely delicious and the perfect spot for a break during a countryside walk. We will definitely be returning.
The service and food were both excellent at this restaurant. The English breakfast was a good value for the price. We also purchased some apricot tea cakes for later, which were deliciously baked with a generous amount of butter.
The restaurant was absolutely fabulous. It was my first time there on Wednesday and I will definitely be back. They offer a variety of cakes, pies, pasties, sandwiches, tea, coffee, and soft drinks, all made with fresh ingredients.
