What Nick doesn't like about The Engineer Harpenden:
Drinking good. Food less so. Revisited for the first time since lockdown. Just wasn’t quite as good as it used to be. Food was ok, but a level down from previous experience with meat dishes reportedly a little tough. Service ok but nothing great an error on order which I felt I needed to be assertive about as staff just wanted me to accept the dish presented . Just didn’t quite meet my expectations and makes me hesit... View all feedback. What JasonB likes about The Engineer Harpenden:
Nice time at The Engineer again. Great Halloumi to start, and veggie burger was delicious. My sausage and mash had drier tougher sausages than I like. Good value overall View all feedback.

read moreDespite some mixed reviews, The Engineer seems to be a popular choice for many locals. Some diners were disappointed with the limited menu and quality of the food, particularly with dishes like the burnt nachos and overcooked whitebait. However, others praised the friendly service and tasty roast dinners. The atmosphere in the restaurant was described as welcoming, with a good selection of beers and wines available. Overall, it seems like The Engineer is hit or miss depending on individual experiences, but it could be worth a visit for those looking for a casual dining option in the area.
