This place is fantastic. I come to breakfast with my family and love it. The waiting time for the food is at the moment somewhat long, but it is certainly worth it- and many interesting magazines and coloring books to keep the children busy. Or we dance Polka with them while we wait: I cannot get LESS as 2 orders of apple pancakes when we come. I might have to get three next time. On the regular breakfast kitchen. Ow... Got a good deal on local flavor so thought I'd try it out. If you're using the local flavor deal, you need to use the whole amount pretax so be ready for some leftovers. Not a bad little place. I tried their bacon cheese burger on their pretzel bunand their pretzel stocks. The burger was OK, nothing special but the fries were good. Fries were fresh cut, crispy and justthe right amount of salt. Pretzel sticks were goo... View all feedback.
I had an excellent dining experience at this restaurant. The Liver Dumpling Soup was absolutely superb, and the handcrafted spaetzle, also known as Knoepfle in southern Germany, was delightful alongside the Jaeger Schnitzel. The portions were generous, and I enjoyed having the leftovers for lunch today. The owner and chef, Renate, hails from Aschaffenburg, Germany, which adds to the authenticity of the experience.
Olde Salem Cafe catered a recent dinner for 200 for us! Food was amazing! The whole process was very professionally done, exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend their catering!
Excellent German cuisine! My father enjoyed the Leberkäse, which is quite rare to find prepared so deliciously and authentically. My mom had the Haxen, prepared in a traditional German style as well. The ambiance was welcoming, and the service was exceptionally friendly. Just a heads-up: it was a little warm inside.
This is the best German restaurant in the area! The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The liver dumpling soup was fantastic. Those are my two favorite dishes, and I can't wait to sample more from the menu. They've also been featured on Chicago's Best!
