It's super hard to put into words. These days the convenience of many restaurants lulls us into a false sense. There is NOTHING that can replace the feel, the quality, the selection, the service, the taste. Gil's and this type of restaurant is a must visit and experience, and if you're from a bigger city, it's a must to experience the small town glory. View all feedback.
What Tim De Jarnnett doesn't like about Gil's Supper Club:
I've gone to gill for many years but was totally disappointed sorry to say. They brought the meal out in under 10 minutes witch tells me it not freshly made and some of the chicken was not hot. Coleslaw was different. Gills use to be my go to place not so sure anymore. I can't eat shellfish and the next day had gout and upset stomach that tells me they may have used grease vat for for shrimp and chicken View all feedback.
Love the food but something has happened in the last year and a half. We took our family over a year ago, around 16 people, and we nearly had to walk out. We called ahead so they knew we'd be coming. We were seated quickly, drink and food order placed then... nothing. For 2 1/2 hours. We finally told a waitress we had to flag down to either get the food on the table or we were leaving. We had contact briefly only 1 other time from a waitress. We eat, food was good and it was now 8pm. We came in at 500 and had children now late for bed. Tried it again just husband and I 2 more times and same abysmal service. We have been coming for decades. Whatever changes have occurred need to be reversed. We just don't have time to wait 3 hours for a chicken dinner.
We drove from mackinaw just to eat here because of the family atmosphere and great food.

Small town atmosphere and we loved the prone rib. we've had the fried chicken and enjoyed that as well as that's one of their specialties. decently busy but never too long of a wait.
The food was great as well as the service. Sorry, I didn't get the name of our waitress. We were in the lower level with 2 very vocal baby girls for a surprise birthday for my brother Mike. Our waitress was awesome!Kid-friendliness: They had high chairs for the babies
