Stopped by for ice cream on the way back from Hana. We got there too early and the owner was just getting ready to open, but he still served us anyway. We had the original, the vanilla, the lilikoi, and the toffee, which were all excellent. I especially liked the coconut candy bits in the ice cream for added taste and bite. We ended up getting a bag of those as well. It's not cheap at $7 for two scoops per cup, but i... View all feedback.
What Villain doesn't like about Coconut Glen's:
It's misleading to advertise all the ice creams as vegan and call yourself a vegan business, but not mention that honey is in some of the flavors, as well as bee pollen. It's disappointing to not be told that you're eating animal products. I feel sad now. The Golden Cream (turmeric) flavor contains honey, and Immunity Blast (Lilikoi) flavor contains honey and bee pollen. Updated from previous review on 2023-06-14 View all feedback.
So excited to find that all of Glen’s products were vegan. Had the vanilla bean, coconut and mystery flavor (think it was pistachio). My Omni DIL declared it the best ice cream she ever ate!
I love this coconut frozen treat. However, a month or so ago I stopped and got some deserts. Everything was marketed as Vegan... I enjoyed the turmeric golden milk flavor.. Today I was shopping at the Pauwela store and noticed that the packaging of this flavor is NOT labeled vegan, while others were. It contained honey and bee pollen. If seems the production and packaging are labeleling products correctly. However, I'm not sure if the people at the stand are? Unless perhaps the turmeric flavor I had at the stand is different than the turmeric flavor sold in shops.
This ice cream is good, but overpriced. The employee was not friendly; he actually seemed annoyed when I asked a question. A tiny scoop was $7 and they only accept cash. This is a nice treat on the Hana Highway, but it's more convenient (and possibly cheaper? just to buy it at a shave ice shop on the island.
You definitely have to stop at coconut glens on the way to Hana if you love ice cream. Their ice cream was some of the best I’ve had and you can beat sitting in the beautiful jungle to enjoy it! Be aware prices are $7 for two scoops and it’s CASH ONLY so bring some money with you. We tried the chocolate Mac nut and the green dragon which was mint matcha and both were amazing!
This is a traditional stop I'll be making on all my trips to Hana. The flavors are unique and delicious. I haven't tried them all yet but so far, Salted Caramel is one of my favorites. Owner is very nice and very efficient. Every time I've gone, there's a lot of customers, but never a long wait. The setting is very colorful and tropical.
