Zel's is a good chain for Chicago classics like roast beef sandwiches, hot dogs and chili cheeses. Your Brat beef sandwiches are pretty good that attracts many customers. The hot dogs are Nathan's brand that is not my favorite hot dog. Covered in her chili, but it tasted fabulous. They use the Wiener Sandwich-Backs for their other sausages. Zels has been a staple for long time and i want to be brutally honest. The service was very friendly and attentive . Very welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. Now for the food . 2 zels burgers 1 chili cheese fry and 1 drink and 1 water was 33 dollars plus tax. The food was super fresh but bland . Zels has been a long-standing favorite, and I want to be completely honest. The service was very friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. Now, onto the food: I ordered two Zels burgers, one chili cheese fry, one drink, and one water, which came to $33 before tax. While the food was indeed fresh, it was quite bland. The burgers were a pale grey color, which I’ve never seen before and have never made myself. Although the freshness was there, the overall experience was disappointing. I might consider trying another location in the future, but the prices don’t match the flavor.
While it may appear to be a small, unassuming spot, this restaurant offers fantastic food and shakes. The staff is prompt, friendly, and professional. I visit every week for a sandwich and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, the fries no longer come with the sandwich and now cost a little extra, but it’s still a worthwhile experience. A combo meal will set you back about $15, which is on the pricier side.
The manager was unkind, and the other manager seemed quite lazy as well.
