Was MarkM at Basil 1791 a mag?
This is a belated review for my dining experience from JUST BEFORE comrade DeWine shut everything down. There were 6 of us and I don’t remember much about what we had except the fried eggplant appetizer. It was so good we ordered a second! Service is always friendly and prompt. The food is good (though I could stand a little more Asian authenticity! Best bar staff in town. I love this place and I can’t wait for them... View all feedback.

What Paolo Acuña Quispe dislikes about Basil 1791:
I went here on 11/20/2024 at 4:25pm and ordered Vietnamese Pho and Eggroll my server was a male, let’s start here with my complaint, the server did not even introduce himself when he sat me down, I waited for some more water and didn’t want to wait any longer I had to get up to FIND him just to get a water refill. Not one time did he stopped by my table and ask if everything was good, but he definitely did not forget... View all feedback.

I contacted Basil to inquire about reservations. I have been contacted by them almost daily for weeks asking me to leave a review EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT END UP EATING THERE. So, I can't comment on the food or atmosphere, but I can speak about the service because I've requested to be removed from their list multiple times. Giving 2 stars because the restaurant looks nice, but their persistent contact is overwhelming.

We had to wait a little bit to be seated because there were only 2 servers covering the room. The food was buffet style, but it wasn't labeled and was somewhat cold because all the covers were open. I was disappointed in the selection and overall experience considering the cost. Although we usually love Basil, I don't think we will do brunch there again for a third time. I've eaten here before during the day and food was good. However, I went for brunch on a Sunday for Operation Pumpkin fest and I have to say, the food was not good. Especially paying $28 for the buffet and then ordering a drink tip; you are talking close to $50 for brunch. The eggs were the worst I have ever eaten. I do not believe they were real eggs. The pumpkin muffins were dry and pretty uneventful. The cinnamon butter tasted like lard with cinnamon. The bread pudding was good. The General Tso's and orange chicken were ok which you'd expect from a Thai restaurant. My **** Mary was too spicy that I couldn't even drink it all. We had to ask for them to bring coffee cups out as they didn't even have them out; so we weren't even sure they were offering coffee. Overall, we all (4 of us) were very unimpressed with the food and for that kind of money there should have been more options. The waiters and waitresses were attentive and prompt and gave good service; however, I definitely will not be doing the brunch there again.

We dined in on 10/4 for the very first time. Ordered drinks, appetizers, sushi roll, and two entrees. The drinks took about 20 minutes to get to us, no big deal. Our appetizer and sushi roll were out very fast. We put in our entree order and it took an hour to get our food, people that had been seated 20 minutes after us were getting their food before us and some even left before we ever got our food. Our waiter (can 't remember his name) barely checked on us, did not apologize for the food taking so long, he even had to check with the kitchen and said our ticket got lost , he did not offer any sort of compensation for the extremely long wait. The food was amazing, the service and wait time for the food was horrible.
