It is difficult to generalise on curries as they vary depending on the taste buds of the inherent country.Balutsch gives a good tasty curry, not hot, and the karahi I had was heavily nut based in the sauce. the starters and bread are good. the surroundings are a bit kitsch, but the service is excellent and friendly. The local taste is not UK but is very pleasant. View all feedback.
What Théophile Vachon doesn't like about Restaurant Balutschi:
I was hungry after a workday on a business trip and I stumbled upon this restaurant -- it was near my hotel. I ordered a Lamb Vindaloo and asked for it to be "indisch scharf." It certainly was -- I very much enjoyed the spiciness of the vindaloo sauce. But I was disappointed by the lamb in the dish -- not much of it, and there was not much lamb flavor there. A good place to discover Pakistani flavours and try new cuisine. Friendly staff, good food and massive portions.
I visited on a Saturday night with my partner. The restaurant was very busy but we were promptly greeted and found a space to sit despite not having a booking. We ordered the vegetarian thali starter, which was pleasant, but a little unvaried. The main dishes of lamb vindaloo and chicken palak were lovely. Not spicy, but very tasty! The service was fantastic and the waiters were sympathetic to my attempts to order auf Deutsch!
This place has a nice atmosphere, okay service and a good price-quality balance. The chai is amazing, and so is the Mango lassi. Food is very good and traditionally served.
After having been compelled to eat continental and Turkish food for a prolonged period, this restaurant came as a welcome change and closer to the North Indian food we have in India. The staff is excellent in explaining the cuisine, size of portions and friendly attitude. We were a large group and ordered almost all the types of meat, biryani and breads (tandoori roti, kulchas etc.). Must say I loved the fish curry and the lassi took me back.

It certainly was -- I very much enjoyed the spiciness of the vindaloo sauce. But I was disappointed by the lamb in the dish -- not much of it, and there was not much lamb flavor there. Also the rice served with this dish seemed to be plain white rice -- no cumin, safran, or other seasonings that I could discern. Kind of boring, really.
