Overhead... read more Lovely dinner at this intimate setting. Pass through burgundy velvet drapes that do a very nice job keeping the Hamburg chill outside where it belongs. Overhead a gold metal sphere set in a chandelier with candles orbiting it. A bar, booths and tables on the first level, then up a winding staircase and you are sitting above with a view below and it's a perfect spot for a really good meal. Oysters from France were sweet and fresh, smoked char-light and a perfect starter. They have some vegetarian and even a vegan dish alongside the veal, ox and chicken. Prawns too. Dessert was very inventive. A homemade orange cube of taffy, three of us fought over. Flan, ice cream - small and proper portions after the meal. The staff were efficient if not the most friendly but left us to sit for well over an hour to digest and enjoy the atmosphere. I highly recommend this for a bit more formal dinner in this city that has so many hipster spots to offer. I am a fool for a white table cloth and a fine setting.

Especially in this case. To prepare for city trips, I also always find suitable places. I was in the Slow Food Guide. So reserved by mail, then it was so far. First of all, to the location. It's really scenic in St. Pauli. We really realized that because we ran against the power. Everything was going to play, we to the Nile. We arrived here without prejudice, entered through the door shielded with a thick curtain and found us on the ground floor. There are three. Also the walk-in, here you can also find the treses, we sat on the first floor, practically in place with great view and there is still the basement, in the souterrain. Everything is kept in bistro style, nicely covered, simple tables, matching glasses and cutlery, fabric napkins, upscale gastronomy, simply styled. Feeling comfortable from the beginning. The card is small, but fine. It pays attention to regional and seasonal ingredients. And not just that. Together with the bread, oil and salt, my little cart will receive the payment of € 1.00 on the bill for the benefit of Hamburg's needy action Help Mahl. It's a great idea, especially since you can increase what we did at the end. So we were busy, looking with selection, wine, bread. And then the chosen appetizers came. As if there were: the small salad 6,50€ and the soothed hearts of the open-country hay 9,50€. While the salad was still frightened from the knife, as fresh as it was, the hearts represented a small sensation for me. Sharp seasoned, soft meat, extended by finely presented pieces of various still bite-resistant pieces of vegetables, it was an extremely successful entry. Everything framed by subtle, gorgeous Charleston? Music. We were looking forward to the main dishes, i.e. the lamb carree with ratatouille, shallots and ricotta 24,50€ and the entrecote with Coleslaw, sweet potato frits and homemade ketchup 24,00€. But that did not break the pleasure. A treat on the palate, pink meat, tender.... Very good! At Entrecote, my expectations were exceeded. Perfect meat, tasty ham, delicious roast flavor. The sweet potato fries a dream, crisp, fresh, sweet and also the homemade ketchup a pleasure. Easy, easy, fruity. Attention to the kitchen and thanks!
