Max & Consorten - Hamburg

This restaurant has a sign at the door requesting (i.e. vaccination or recovery proof). In spite of a digital COVID certificate, a medical printed certificate and a negative PCR test hours old) access was denied the waiter’s explanation was: it’s necessary to...have a written confirmation of the Public Health Office Hamburg, however he couldn’t be specific about the contents of the document he was requesting and nobody else in Hamburg has requested such a thing so far. He mentioned his boss demands him to act this way and he could be fined if he accepted me in the restaurant. After scanning the digital COVID certificate with the CovPass Check App which showed as VALID, I was requested to do him a favour, leave the restaurant and go somewhere else. I must admit I find it a bit odd his boss wants him to chase away customers with valid legal documents as per Verordnung zur Eindämmung der Ausbreitung des Coronavirus in der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg from Dec but I’m sure it’s in the best interest of the business.

We passed by many times when we walked to our hotel at the riverside. We tried Winerschnitzel and Seelachs. They were very delicious and the kitchen was quick to make them.

A nice place to sit and drink some beers, the food is also really good and for a good price. highly recommended.

My kind of place. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, extensive menu, excellent value. Great beer, too.

We popped in on a Saturday night and the placecwas packed, we had not booked either. The friendly staff said if we could wait just a short time we could jump on the end of a long table. The place is not big at all...and everyone seems to share tables and just sit where they can, which is just fine by us. Food was plentiful and tasty, beers were nice and cold. Staff were friendly and efficient. Very short walk from the station, would recommend a visit if stsying in the area.
