Kypros - Hamburg

Celebrated my birthday there with family and friends, including folks from my hometown San Juan, PR. The owner offered to put together a menu of appetizers and dinner plates instead of individual orders. Everyone loved every plate, without exception...from the scampi, to Greek salad, to the lamb dishes, everything put on the table was delicious.....and the moment a plate was empty, it was refilled with a new one. Serving a large crowd is always a challenge, so is bringing out a variety of dishes that are excellent without exception. Outside tables are on a plaza that turns into a farmer's market several days a week, the whole area has a nice ambiance, the area is one of the more culturally diverse in the city. It is a short pedestrian street walk away from the Altona train and subway station. (When I visit Hamburg I usually stay in the Altona Intercity Hotel, the best hotel choice in the area). If you like Greek food and want to see an interesting part of town off the tourist track, their is no better choice than Krypos; they will amaze you with their food and service.

Been there in 2 people for dinner in the terrace, that gives on a pedestrian square with other bars and restaurants. Efficient service, they offered a salad as a starter, appetiser was very good (eggplant roll with tomatoes and inside feta , main curses were baby-calamars and sea bream, both excellent. It is not easy to find so well done fish that is not fried nor paned. Also, they initially brought as main courses 2 sea breams (while we ordered only one , and when we told them of the mistake they apologised and prepared the baby-calamari as quickly as possible. I have been to many restaurants where the reaction would have been to tell us that it was our mistake. Finally, they offered us a dessert to share and a shot of ouzo. And if the above was not enough, we loved the dry white wine we had (10.5 euros or so for half a litre ! :

Very nice athmosphere, great greek food and very friendly service. No problem with special requests.

Quality and taste were good. the delivery lasted two hours and the food was cold. very bad
