We found this cozy restaurant near the Jungfernstieg area of Hamburg and it was a pleasant surprise. They have a set menu for Mittagstisch which wasn't our initial intention but the Goulash soup was very rich in flavor, it seems like it's an old family recipe. The place is decorated in a very rustic fashion which was also a nice touch. Details and paraphernalia all around. And most surprisingly it's incredibly cheap.... View all feedback.
We called in here for a ‘review’ meeting on the way to the Rathaus and to have a beer. We liked it so much we stayed for lunch. The food is very local, for example I had fresh shrimps in black bread with two fried eggs on top!
We've stumbled upon this super cosy restaurant, when looking for dinner with colleagues. It us very appealing inside and out. We had a couple of vegetarians in out team, and while there were no vegetarian dishes on the menu, the staff quickly provided us with an option: potatoes and vegetables. It sounds boring, but it was actually delicious. The meaty portions were huge, tasty and very well cooked. Would definitely recommend.
Our Airbnb appartment was in the same building so I was relieved not to have to walk far for dinner after an exhausting day at Hanover trade fair. They open for the evening at 17.00 and we were pleased to be able to eat early. The menu is straightforward with good local dishes. I chose smoked salmon on lovely crispy Rösti potato pancakes with horseradish cream and a salad garnish, and my husband chose North Sea shrimps on dark bread with two fried eggs. We had a delicious, simple meal and enjoyed the tasty original Czech Budweiser beer, so much better than the US version. The owner is a lovely lady who looks after you in the nicest way! Seating was very comfortable with piles of cushions, and we managed to stay awake long enough to make our way upstairs to bed.
Stumbled upon this little pub in one of the small streets close to town square. Delightful place with quirky antiques as decoration. Felt very cosy. Staff speak enough English to easily convey what you are after, they also have an English version of the menu. Beer was great! The schnitzel was huge served with salad a side plate of potato. Great value for money and we felt a much more authentic family pub experience in Germany. If ever back in Hamburg would definitely come again!
Authentic german cuisine. Onion soup, schnitzel "farm" style - for holistic, house cuisine. Everyday, simple food.
