Cafe & Bar Celona Hamburg Eppendorf

A terrific place for Sunday breakfast brunch. Helpful staff and a terrific selection of food both hot and cold. Very happy atmosphere and a good social place

This time I had an opposite experience to last one, which made me regret having chosen the place at all! Bear in mind it is Eppendorf, an upper-class neighbourhood in Hamburg, filled with snobbish and flamboyant people! That perhaps made service this time terrible, for...girls are yet friendly but absent-minded and more worried about their looks and walks than serving clients, which is their job actually! Our order was messed up three times, because they don't communicate with each other! Food is nothing to write home about, but drinks are nice, especially the summer menu', which they always have at this time of the year! We need to ask for cutlery twice and for napkins three times, and of course there was also a problem with the check, all resulting from lack of communication within the staff! I don't think I'd be coming back there, nor do I recommend the place, based on this experience...

Weekly updated lunch menus in a hotel-style, freshly made cocktails, alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic beverages in a good selection. The menu changes based on the season, but there is a good selection for those that come here regularly too, like I do. Weather permitting...there is a medium sized outside area capable of seating around (ca tables), most with parasols. Smaller events hosting people can be comfortable inside and outside. The staff are genuinely friendly, attentive and seem to have a good time here which reflects well on the service it is also a good indicator that those currently not on duty like to hang out at their working place, which means that management is also friendly. The only possible downside would be that service is at times slow, but for that you get a good quality food.

This is a great place to go for a drink, catch up with friends, the atmosphere is perfect for friends, family and also work gatherings. I personally enjoy taking my little one with me as they offer a play area for kids on the side...of the restaurant where I can see her play while I enjoy my coffee. I also enjoy the service there, the staff is always ready to help you, they are very friendly and knowledgeable, it kind of makes you feel like the service in the US. Now, what I am not really crazy about is the food, although they offer a great variety of options, the quality of the food is not the best, it is good but definitely not a place for someone to go just to try the food, not a foodie destination for sure.

I'm surprised to read some of the early reviews, perhaps it was just down to teething problems during the first weeks. I visited with some friends and read a great time. The food was more bar food, but I thoroughly enjoyed my burger. The drinks...were great, they have a good selection of gins. And the music was great, a good mix with something for everyone. It's a good place to go and relax after work. What excites me the most about this place is that it's open to on weekends, bringing a much needed late night venue to Eppendorf. It's just a shame there's not a dance floor. And the huge terrace will be great on a sunny afternoon.
