We went with a table of 5 and 2 of us already left a review. Regrettably, the restaurant commented one of the 2 reviews saying that one would have been enough. We disagree with this, as being 5 people, each of us shall have the right to express their own opinion. We took a 5 course menu for five people and a wine paring for everybody (wine paring 21€ each). The wine paring consisted of one white wine, which was paired with the first 3 courses, and one red wine which was paired with the 4th course. The white wine was decent and we judged it adequate for the 1st course, though we would have expected different wines to be paired with the 2nd and 3rd course (what is a wine paring otherwise The red wine was so bad that we didn't drink any of it. A quick google search showed us that it was a 6€/bottle wine. All in all, we paid 21x5=105€ for: 2 bottles of decent white wine, 1 bottle of undrinkable red wine (completely left there), 1 bottle of water, 5 bad espressos (average/low quality of espresso in Germany). To our complaints, the staff only expressed concerns on whether we would still pay the bill (which of course we did). The food was great though, it's a shame that the wine, but most of all the carelessness of the staff, caused the rating to be so low.
Had a really enjoyable dinner here the other night. high points were the suppe and the pike perch. in the did, the suppe (sweet heap, birne and garnel) could have been one of the best suppers I had lived in my life. some of the flavors. selection and pairings were brave, they worked mostly. I would rather see places try interesting things and get it 80% right than the same ideas as anywhere else to serve. I have the set menu and the drinks pairing. while the weeping were good, they don't think about it as a specially curated pairing. someone just came and put my white and then my red when I finished the glasses. in other reviews, there are some comments about the service to give and compare with other fine restaurants. the service I received was okay, they were friendly, but seemed a ted temporarily hurried. it was a busy Friday night and there were only 3-4 of them. I am not sure that I expect this to be FINE food compared to the top Michelin star restaurants, the price point should point out. there were authentic, high quality dishes with a hauch of creativity and some bold aromen. if they expect to have a $150 experience at a €50 price point, then that is on them.
If you are looking for a good place for dinner or lunch, I would not recommend this restaurant. Hamburg is full of good restaurants but Brook is certainly not one of them. The food and service are simply not up to standard.
Nice food, though a little saltier than it should be, with very kind and caring service, to a very neat place, which however lacks identity according to our taste. Price per person: €40–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
