The restaurant in Stokesley offers a cozy atmosphere and tasty food, perfect for a post-race meal. While the Sunday gammon lunch was delicious, some found the portions not quite filling enough. The staff were always on the go, ensuring efficient service. Unfortunately, noise from beer garden parties can disrupt the tranquility of the town. Despite some issues with cold food and billing discrepancies, the service was top-notch. The winter sharing platter received high praise, creating a memorable dining experience. Overall, the pub is a local gem with reasonable prices and welcoming staff.
I went to this restaurant after participating in the Captain Cook's Fell Race. I had a big Sunday gammon lunch for £12.95. The food was tasty, but for a large portion, it could have been more filling. I still felt quite hungry after finishing my meal. The staff were very busy and seemed to never stop moving.
Despite serving as a charming town center pub, this establishment also holds extremely loud parties in their beer garden, which overlooks a peaceful stream in the quietest area of town. This behavior is not representative of the lovely town of Stokesley, as they show no consideration for their neighbors up to half a mile away. The mindless music blares late into the night, disrupting the peace for everyone around. It feels like being a non-smoker in a room full of smokers, where everyone is forced to endure the noise. While understanding that they may have faced challenges during lockdown, so did the rest of us.
I have been to this restaurant a few times while visiting Stokesley, but this was my first time actually eating here. The food was really good, and it was a sunny day so we enjoyed sitting in the beer garden. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a meal or drinks.
Popped in on a Wednesday afternoon and unfortunately they weren’t serving food due to chef calling in sick. Got food elsewhere and then popped back for couple of drinks. Cute, village pub with pleasant staff. If weather had been warmer would definitely have taken advantage of the beer garden. Can’t comment on food but prices reasonable on drinks
Came in today about half three with my wife and asked wether they were still serving Sunday dinners we were told yes not a problem and we were quickly seated and drinks and order taken by a very kind server. Our food didn't take very long but once it arrived it was stone cold and quite frankly inedible. We told the server who was very apologetic and swiftly took our plates away, we waited about ten minutes for our food to be brought back this time a bit hotter but not much, the server then apologised again and asked us if we needed anything else. I would return simply because of the service and with the hope that next time the food would be actually edible as we have heard good things about this pub. All in all quite dissapointed as we aren't local so travelled quite a way.
