We 'd heard the Korean fried chicken was excellent so both of us went for that and we weren 't disappointed. Firstly, it was the perfect portion size for a starter and secondly, the chicken was fantastic. Crispy and tasty but the sauce on it really made it above and beyond. The mains were steak and a burger. My wife likes her steak still mooing so went for a rare and it came out just how she likes it. My burger was big and proper 'meaty ' with a really good bun. I opted for the ham hock terrine, which was delicious and looked homemade. Even the toast that came with it was perfect, and the sauce was unique but tasty. I chose the chicken special but asked for peppercorn sauce instead of the bacon and cream sauce. I must say, the chicken was amazing and probably the best I've had in a long time. The creamed potatoes and vegetables were also well-cooked and seasoned. While my partner enjoyed his steak, he found the peppercorn sauce a bit salty, but it was balanced out once mixed with the dish. A bit more cream would have improved it. The staff and chef were attentive and polite, and the chef even came out to ask about our meals, which was a nice touch. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and would recommend this restaurant for a good, home-cooked meal.

Warm and cosy atmosphere, the menu was good with choices for everyone along with chefs specials. We sat in the dining room with its warm fire and enjoyed the pork roast dinner and the black garlic chicken which was delicious. No room for dessert on this occasion but really enjoyed ourselves. While the hotel has the pote... read more The hotel room was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well-appointed and the shower was efficient. While the hotel has the potential to be very good, there were a few areas of miscommunication and lack of attention to detail. We were invited to book a table at the restaurant, but when we arrived at 7pm on Sunday, we were informed that the restaurant had closed at 4pm. In the room, there were tea making facilities but no coffee, and more importantly, no cups or mugs. There was also a miscommunication regarding bedding, as all pillows were removed from the room due to a feather allergy, when non-feather pillows would have sufficed. However, the staff explained the mistake on Monday morning and apologized for the confusion.
