What JXR UK doesn't like about The Crosby:
My family had Sunday lunch here recently. The food was tasty. I had roast pork which was a good portion and the meat tender. Service was a little slack. We weren’t asked if we’d like extra drinks, I had to flag one of the young waiters down. We weren’t asked if we would like any sauces with the meals such as horseradish for the beef or mustard etc. Our empty plates weren’t cleared in a timely manner. Overall the food... We have been to this lovely village inn on a number of occasions and it has always been consistently excellent, be it the food or the friendly and welcoming staff. Their delicious Sunday Lunches are very good. Our latest visit was for an evening meal and we had mixed grills that were beautifully cooked and well presented. The steaks were done perfectly. Fabulous chips too. Highly recommended and this is our one to go back to dining venue. Please note the mixed grills for two people are not on the printed menu, you have to pre order and they do a traditional and a pork mixed grill.
We went for an evening meal not knowing what to expect, but we were welcomed into the pub, drinks were good and the food was excellent the roast beef just melted away as you ate it and the chicken and leek pie was just about the same, hearty food and very satisfying.
I visited this restaurant while on vacation in the area and had an amazing experience! The steak and ale pie was the best I've had in a long time, accompanied by fresh vegetables and delicious chips. Despite wanting a light dessert, I couldn't resist ordering the trifle, which turned out to be a generous portion and incredibly tasty. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was that of a traditional, cozy pub. Thank you for a great meal, I hope to return soon!
We had an incredible experience at the restaurant. The fish pie was freshly made that morning, not frozen, and it was served with a generous portion of fresh vegetables that were perfectly cooked - not mushy or bland. My husband had the steak pie with chips and vegetables, and he loved the shortcrust pastry just the way he likes it. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full, with no desire for dessert due to being so full.
