We popped in this shop while being on a day out with some residents from our care home. One of our ladies was on a wheelchair. I supported her to sit at the table with the others and moved wheelchair in the corner. Then I asked one of the owners is it ok to leave it there (the cafe was empty that moment). Many selection of sweets in this popular small shop, very colorful interieur with the counter display that awakens several joyous. but I went to taste the famous ice cream and yes, it was delicious. I had a medium 99 that cost £1.70, glad I didn't have a little!
Suggitts is a treasure of the North-east, offering fantastic ice-cream available nowhere else! Also part of Captain Cook's walking trail around the area with a lovely river and waterfall area to sit by and eat ice cream

When you go in suggitts, you will feel that you are in a time stuck warp this is a beautiful little retro 60 style coffeeable on a side with a well-stocked old fashion sweet shop on the other, filled with bottle of sweetness that they will remember from their childhood. from cola bottles to pear drops, to special combinations of chocolate all are weighed. the locally made ice is so beautiful and they can have cone with 99’s and beautiful chocolate wafers. are they ready to come out in the summer months so many people come into the small village great ayton, with its flowing small stream especially to have an ice cream. they then sit on the way to see the river leven and maybe see how young children feed the ducks. suggestions are visited by many cyclists who stop on the route for refreshments. during the busy times, the owner of suggitts, who lives across the street, opens his field for additional parking.
Best ice cream in the area and great value cafe. A local institution : Thankfully now fully open again after Covid restrictions, including sit in cafe. Can get very busy on weekends and holidays, so plan accordingly.
