My wife and I had the lunch special- half a 9 inch pizza and a ceasar salad. Neither of us were impressed. It looked good, pizza crust was ok, but was quite bland. Not what we expected and at $33, with soft drinks, disappointing.
I just visited Tomavinos for the first time, I am crew for Holland America Line and the owner greeted me with a handshake and a smile! Tom is a kind man with a semi- New York accent so I knew I trusted his pizza cred. My food came quickly and was piping hot. The bartender that served me, Alex, was kind and gracious and attentive. IWill recommend to everyone who comes to Halifax! Oh- and the pizza was out of this world- I'm a chef so not easily impressed. They did it all right! Well done Tomavinos!!!!!
I arrived at 10:52 am to find an open door. They apparently open at 11. The owner took my order himself and asked me to seat myself. I had ordered the pizza "slice", in Tomavino's language that is half a pizza. And what a pizza. Good chew on the crust, excellent sauce and dressed perfectly. There are only two "slice" options. But wow, you can't go wrong. It was seriously great.
The pizza and the atmosphere here are incredible! Friendly staff and I'm looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!
