Was Akram Ayach at Cheelin a mag?
Okay, we stumbled onto this place on date night as the gf and I were craving some Korean BBQ style meat as our regular go-to place abruptly closed down. The atmosphere is chill with plenty of space to feel comfortable. The portions were generous, the meat selection was excellent and the service was great. They could use more apps and sauces on the menu. On the downside, the air inside can get a bit smokey sometimes.... View all feedback.
What Kristy Homenick dislikes about Cheelin:
Tried it twice, first time was meh, second time we couldn't even eat it. We were hungry so we tried, but $50 worth of Chinese food went into the garbage. At this point, we're starting to wish we hadn't tried eating any of it since we're not feeling well. View all feedback.

We enjoyed our dinner in Cheelin. We ordered a spring roll, egg roll, pork fried rice and kung bao chicken. We asked that the kunge bao chicken is not sharp. The food was fantastic. Vegetables were crunchy fresh with fine taste. The rice was fabulous. The server was very appealing and helpful. We recommend Cheelin.
I happened to go through the Historic Market, my husband and I look at the menus and the size to see if something is vegan. They had a good size vegetarian menu, so we decided to ask ourselves. The server was fantastic and points out that almost everything in this section can be made vegan, except the egg foo yong and chow my noodles (it can still be one, but I cannot remember) Your Veggie spring rolls are also vegan-friendly. The portion sizes are massive and the prices are very good. The food was delicious to get out quickly and worth the money. We have 3 large dishes to share between 3 people and it was more than enough. We actually had leftovers that fed us again today the three. The dining room is nothing beautiful, but I love to play Asian music and some of the decor. The waitress was sweet and accommodating and we will definitely return.
The Halifax Association of Vegetarians hosted their monthly dinner here at the end of Sept. 2016. We were about 30+ people. The menus was fixed and the food was brought to the table in platters for everyone to help themselves. There was so much food that we eventually had to tell them to stop. The meal was excellent. The restaurant is not vegetarian but it was definitely vegetarian friendly. I would highly recommend Cheelin to anyone and everyone.
This used to be a great restaurant so upon my return to Halifax, I had to try it. I took my daughter and nephew and for most of our lunch, we were the only ones there. The server was timid (no problem) and she seemed to disappear for long periods of time. We ordered dumplings - half were good and the other half burned. We had sweet and sour chicken and although the sauce was better than most, we couldn't chew a lot of the chicken because it was so tough. Our plates were littered with chewed pieces on our plate and since the server came only at the end to check up on us, I wasn't able to complain in time to try again. No discount was given but she did apologize. We also had beef and broccoli which was fine but a tad bit salty. Not the lunch I had hoped for. I'll skip this place next time.

We have grown fond of this restaurant. The meat taste amazing, especially the beef. The servers were amazing. They are comforting and always ensures you have what you needed. They ensured that we were comfortable with the whole process of ordering and cooking by giving instructions and suggestions of time on the grill. Water was always filled. My favourite meat is the B2 Sweet Soy Marinated Short Ribs, B3 Chef Special Beef Brisket and P2 Korean Spicy Pork Belly. It’s a little on the pricy side of $39.99 but it is AYCE. They also have beef tounge if you’d like to try. Don’t worry the servers will teach you on how to cook it.
Excellent service, above and beyond. great food. been to a few korean bbq places in the city and they were gross. this is a place is amazing and a must try!
Top notch BBQ restaurant. You can feel from all food they served. All meats and seafoods are high quality and fresh. Lower fat than the rest of BBQ restaurants in Halifax. A lot of quality side dishes such as rice cheese ball, cold noodle, Bibimbap. The highlight is, the oily paper was pasted on grilling plate in order to minimize burning parts from grilled meats. It is good for your health. Finally they will serve you the ice cream stick from Korea. This is my new favorite AYCE BBQ restaurant in town.
