Initial impressed but with service we had to ask for the tea/coffee which was part of the meal deal. Poor, shan't return

If I could give it zero I would. The service and quality of the food was shocking. 1 hour wait for a picnic table, the sausage and chips were stone cold, when concerns were raised to management they didn’t even apologise. The cream in the scones is whipped and not clotted. Overpriced for the extremely poor quality. The carpet up the stairs is filthy, toilet tissue provided dry your hands. X

We booked an afternoon tea for 2 with the Autumn Bench menu. For £19.95 each, we expected a high standard of food, even though we were getting small versions of each item. We were dissapointed that when the food arrived, it was barely warm. The speed at which it came compared to other customers made us assume it was pre-prepared. The chicken burgers were dry and cold, the fish and chips also cold with more batter and fat than fish. The soup was cold when it arrived, which made it unbearable to drink. The sausage roll was nice, yet when looking at other tables, we had thin slithers of a roll, rather than a substantial piece like other customers. The salad was drowned in dressing unlike the 'drizzle ' if vinegar advertised. The apple crumbles were cold, even to the point where they could have been frozen before service, and didn 't have any blackberries in, again as advertised. They were watery and mushy. The service was good, but it 's not fair to have one staff member serve 8 tables at peak times on a Friday. For £40 in total, we expected a lot better than what we got, and won 't be returning.
