We were sat at a table next to the restroom in the back room of the restaurant. Other tables were available. We should have asked to move but I was hoping everything else would cover for our seating location. The service was ok but we had to flag down our waiter to get drink refills after our entrees arrived. The pasta dishes were acceptable but not good or great. Essence of italian, nothing over the top just excellent soup, pasta and clams. Split pea was perfect, prawns done exactly as they should, but the pasta was the come-back. I'll be back to run the menu.
Food, waitperson, wine list all great. Trird the Special Margarita but just was not enjoyable. Allowed to exchange for a great Chardonnay. Will always go back when in the area for dinner.
We've been going to Mezza Luna 2-times a year for several years. It is consistently excellent and the service is always good. This year our waiter was so thoughtful, suggesting choices for one of our group who is sensitive to garlic--including substitutions to make her dinner a success. All that at a reasonable price with a view of the Bay!
Overall, it was a nice lunch. We started out with the cesare salad and mista salad. My wife had the cabenara pasta, which was good but a little heavy on the smoked pancetta. I had the clam linguini, a nice amount of clams, it lacked a bit of flavor. Could have used a bit more garlic and wine reduction. Both pastas were cooked well. The Torta Ala Strega was nice. The texture was more like a pound cake, bit good overall. The capachino was excellent.
